Thread: some thoughts about the commando
I wonder if this has already been mentioned, but if so, well... nevermind 
Looking at the current Commando Skill tree, I think there are two things missing a commando should be capable of:
basic medical skills (stopping bleeds, low end stimpacks)- that can be earned by getting a few boxes in novice medic
advancedskills in terrain negotiation and camouflage - therefore we need the scout profession
so, let's start counting the values together...
getting to master commando leaves you with 81 skill points left.
for the above, you'd need 30 skill points, which leaves you with 51 points left for both training in healing and scouting...
now, trying to get a little bit of medical and scouting skills, leaves you with absolutely no other choices.
the defense of the commando, both regarding ranged and melee combat, is *edit* gimped
so, am i the only one thinking that there is something missing to this class? I'm not talking about the missing certs, gimp dmg etc. that everyone already knows about.
not only that decent styles are missing for the weapons and defensive capabilities (without taking up skills like TK or rifleman trees) are not available,the class doesn't getmany benefits which define the word "commando".
a commando should be a team-oriented fighter profession, skilled in melee, master of special "heavy" ranged weapons (capable to hit hard, both persons and installations, perhaps with some additional styles like AE suppression fire, autofire....), able to destroy enemy installations and equipment with explosives or heavy weapons, able to navigate through terrain both quick and little noticed, knowing of basic medical skills
a commando should *not* be able to beat a bounty hunter 1on1, because in my eyesit's a rather team oriented profession.
but, a group of commandos should pose a serious threat on the battlefield...
