Probably one of the few without a master title ever from the days of yore ( 07-10-2003)

Here's the scoop.

I mastered TKA in the first month or so of release. Had a good time with Nyms and Baz Nitches. However, punching things with VKs got booring in the end. I went commando because I thought the launcher pistol was cool. After I got novice,I ignored commando for a while because it was so gimped that I couldn't stand it. After the last patch, I've had a blast with theFT, and I'm just starting to experiment with the RL and Particle Beam Cannon.

It'sa blast. The overall sustainable damage over timeis not as great as carbineer (or TKA for that matter), but the effects are cool and the big numbers are fun, even if they do come with a 10 second delay. Also, every once in a while, you get a perfect setup, and your flame cone does about 15K damage across 5 targets who all die to the dot a few seconds later. It's extacy . Of course, sometimes you miss that shot and get eaten by 5 forrest beatle kings....

Is it totally fixed? No. They need to combine FT and HAR branches to make room fora launcher pistol branch with its own specials that don't depend on pistoleer (or other pistol) skills. The HAR (Heavy Acid Rfile) really needs to be AP1 tomake up for the slower speed and lack of a DOT (notto mention the BH LLC comparison).Furthermore, I'd like to see a more defined use for grenades, but perhaps that's just me. The "FT-as-a-melee-weapon bug is good for a few kicks while it lasts, but expect the 16K damage against rifle users to go away in the near future. However, in spite of the lingering issues, commando is totally playable. You can play commando and be effective in PvP and PvE, which is more than a lot of other professions can say.

All in all, commandos do decent damage in general, and excellent damage in specific situations. Just like any other properly-constructed class. The weapons are fun (for me) and ATM it doesn't really feel like a grind, which isa really good thing. Best of all, your character is never frozen, so if you like, give it a shot, and redo it if you don't like where you end up.

It's not like you have anything better to do
