I am a master commando and i also am a TKA (was long before i was a commando). I dropped all my TKA skills except for meditate. Power boost rocks right now and with some dancer mind enhancements, I can get my HAM over 1700. This helps me last longer in a fight. Force of will is great too for when you are incapped. I still think the 2.5X modifier is outrageous but this helps a bit.

You wouldnt need to worry so much about the 2.5x melee penalty. I hate to point out the obvious, but you can attain novice TKA for just 6 points. For those of you who dont have it, your ua damage will triple with novice. The UA4 requirement can work in your favor.

Wait... why would we flame you now?

I'd say that's a good idea, for one things get a little TO close.

How does this negate the 2.5 modifier? We still suffer 2.5 until the special recover time is up, so we just can't unequip and take melee damage.

Unless you saying that all commandos should be TKA so that we dont take the 2.5, which if that's the case why be commando at all if all your concerned about is the 2.5 modifier?

Thiis is not a flame just trying to see you point of view here.

Not a flame. It just gets back to the argument we had with the LP.

"just get novice pistoleer"

Well... some of us don't want to have to rely on another professions skills just to survive.

Also it just makes cookie cutter classes.

Not a bad idea, but it's been discussed in regards to other issues.

I'm not a Commando, TKA/Pike here. My good friend is a commando so I'm more than aware of your problems. The last thing im saying is to go TKA, Im just thinking you can switch to UA is your get closed in on. If you've already Flame specialled your target it, cant you just switch since alot of the mobs HP is already drained out? As for the cool off, just kite it a few seconds. As a melee player, I know for a fact kiting works great to keep us from hitting. Just check out the def and attack bonuses in the TKA novice box, they are quite impressive.

Hrmm..only problem with your statement is, by the time we stop, special and start to attempt to kite, we are still penalized for the 9 seconds afterwards. So we're still getting hit for 2.5X damage by melee mobs, even if we are unarmed.

It's not a bad idea and I have a friend who is master commando and has one tree of TKA. But I chose Medic tree which I would have to drop at least part of to get to where you say. It's not a bad solution at all, but it gets back to why should we have to?

Don't get me wrong, Im not saying this willfix your problem. But its one of those investments where the output is much greater than the input. Anyways, you guys are still a rocking class. your specials are love hate for us melee, I love seeing the damage and hearing the flame, I hate what it does to my FPS
