Thread: To all you Commandos who think I am a dabbler!
Just because you started in a profesions doesn't make the rest of us lost puppies looking for the ubber second profession to exploit. Hats off to those that made this profession what it is. But whiners and complainers all are all the same.....which ever side you find yourself on.
Comando is the perfect profession to dabble in.....if your an artisian like me that is
I am a master armrosmith....I don't have much in the way of skill points left to go up the combat class trees and be any good...I know I have tried....most suck untill you get way up in several branches. Skill points are in short supply when you master a profession. Commando is now the best bet for spending your meager skill points and getting the most bang for your buck.
As a novice commando I am way more powerful than I was as a novice pistoleer or novice Creature handler...or any of the other fighting classes. I can't afford to go anywhere else and get so much in return for what I have left in skill points.
I am sticking around.....sry to disappoint all the whiners about us dabblers. I am getting two boxes in flame and maybe going up two in acid and one in the heavy weapons......thats about all I can go before I am maxed out.
I have an idea....maybe the Angry young Commandos should just have fun and stay away from the boards if they are irratating you so much. ![]()
Ok...rant over....are those stupid servers up yet ![]()
you can dabble all you want,...my beef is no novice commando with flame IV should have the same mods and abilities as a master commando..that is insane and unfair to the profession.
my other beef is the dabblers who complain while we are being fixed and balanced right now and have absolutely no clue what the commando profession is about or how to play it..all they know if run to 15 meters spam special click I win button.
now that that is gone here come the cries of how the commando got nerfed when in fact we got balanced.
If you think that this is balance, do you think that a master bh should totally own a master commando? They do now.
Call a newbie or a whiner if you want, but I think that bounty hunters and commandos are equal professions and they should be mutually balanced.

You are basing this on the fact that the damage in pvp was bugged? Or that a master BH can run away from you while you are chasing them with your flamethrower and can not get in range to use the UBER flamesingle 2 that could oen shot them, yes they kill you because they were smart and kited you?
sadly most fail to understand we have alot more to offer weapons wise as a commando than any other class in the game, however most only use the flamethrower want the I win button each and everytime.
commando is a support class...not a god in pvp. I believe any class one on one should be able to kill a commando. I think and have found this to be true in grp pvp, that the commando can change the tide of the battle without the flame thrower...try a rocket launcer or HPB, or even those nifty Imperial detonatoer (sliced witha power up even). THEN you will see the true power of the commando. Versatility and able to adapt.
TKA comes at you, swtich weapons to launcher pistol and ask for help from your grp mates...once he is down switch back to HW shoot at the enemy, lob a grenade into a pack of ppl, see a medic, shoot the rocket launcher (kills him, his patients and their pets)...Commando is not jsut about the Flame Thrower and there is alot more to the class than that.

Yes, I do. Commando requires mastery of 1 tree and 1 line from another tree.
BH requires mastery of 2 trees.
43 fewer points needed to be a commando than to be a BH.
Commandos have the luxury of being able to get substantially more skills and flexibility than a BH does.
But, if you want Commandos and BH's to be equal, by all means - petition to have the commando requirements boosted to include master brawler instead of just unarmed 4.

Completely agree. I've always said a BH should own a Commando, assuming similar levels of skill and equipment.
Although, I do agree that we got screwed. If we use the points required argument then assuming similar levels of skill and equipment, Commando's should win.
If a person was to only put points in commando and ignore all there other skill points then maybe a Bounty hunter should own them but if a commando puts the rest of his or her skill points into combat professions then why should a bounty hunter own them?
Bounty hunters are half scout what does that have to do with combat abilities?
Although you did choose to be an imp - ive got to hand it to ya - I think you are the only one ive seen that has a true grasp on the commando proffesion. I agree with you that the whole concept of commando and all that comes with it is the ability to adapt and contribute and just about every situation - be it Pvp, hunting, or anything else. Yes - we had some serious changes lately, i think this should really put into perspective that us in the commando profession need to think on a whole new scale of tactical thinking and not just carry around a flamethrower with a glowing red barrel.
I think the main idea that is shortsighted is the fact that we are basically a jack of all trades profession, able to assist and sometimes conquer in many situations. Now it appears that we have a **edit** in our armor when it comes to close combat, but heres another way to look at it, maybe by having a lot of team integrity and helping others in situations with our many skills, they will too realize what an assett we are and have our backs when we enter into a situation like when this latest nerf will effect us the most.
As for the annoying posts - keep in mind the many different ages and types in this game - they are gonna happen - but - its all about how you react to it - if ya spark back - here comes 3 new threads. A wise captain once said - Discipline is what you are when no one is looking - in other words - ignore it and drive on with the mission - ok off my soap box.
By the way - how many out there actually keep 1 of each weapon in their inventory or even in their trays - especially grenades to take out that medic or CH.
Now is the time we suck it up and drive on with the mission - after all - we all got past the friggin unarmed 4 without cussing more than 1 million times - i think we can handle this.
Good luck to ya all - and if it helps - go out a slaughter a few jawas - i swear it should be a sport and is therapeutic. take care
Wolve couldnt agree more. The fact is aartillary has always been weak defensively. All throughout history artillary has been countered by a quick attack at close range. However when artillary is covered and coordinates properly it has constantly tore enemies to shreds. We are the swg artillary, we were never meant to be one man wrecking machines. We are the guys who set up and provide the fire power for our team. Anything more and we go out of balance.
P.S. After testing the new modifer inless then 15 mins in game i managed to change my tactics so that its wasnt much of a factor solo. Maybe we should do what we have been telling every one else for the last month use tactics.

Ok BH's should own just about any class. Thats because of the 2 skill tree required. If they have commandos get 2 skill trees then we should be equal in any contest with any other proffesion.
Now for using other weapons that commandos have available. Yes we have heavy particle beam and rocket launchers but the cost on these is ridiculous to use jsut to take out one medic. The Launcher pistol has no use unless you are a smuggler and pistoleer then that is a great weapon. The HAR well if I have to say anything about the HAR then you are not a commando and have never tried using the useless piece of garbage.

The HAR is broken in my oppinion or needshuge tweak....as for the LP, well you have a ton of specials in your marksman line and support line you can use with the LP...btw find a Master weaponsmith and also get some Krayt tissue, Adv comp off of the Nym, and a 30%+ damage power up...make 3 of them...get them sliced (hopefully 1 will be damage sliced)
You are now the proud owner of a 500+ damage Launcher pistol that will do insane damage.
As for the rest of our wepaons...yups agreed their HAM costs can be high..however (hehe bet you hate hearing that) Get a doctor in your PA to buff you and group with him or her, they can buff all of your HAM except mind(need entertainer for that) including sub stats..you will be amazed at what 1500+ substats do for your regen rate and last 2-3 hours at a time provided you do not die. Plus the doc is healing ya if you have no heal abilities.
Now use your rocket launcher, HPBC, etc...watch the mobs and NPC fall dead
The thing you have to understand and which most ppl FAIL to understand is the HW weapons (excluding the flamethrower) are not intended for solo'ing and most times you will just waste them if you use them solo. However group up and you will see your group say WOW when you use those weapons of mass destruction.
It is all about balance and timing....really get to know the class and have fun experimenting. The flame Thrower is not our only weapon contrary to popular belief..and the 2X damage CAN be avoided by using your vast arsenal of weapons.
Good posts by all. I didn't comment on the balance issue at all...but it seems that is what 's at the core of all the bickering going on around here. Those that are around here....and really know the profession realize how hard it is to be a commando. Having one uber weapon isn't enough. I have read and found that no matter what profession you choose..........once you get to it............ you will realize it's totally broke ![]()
I was on a kryant dragoon hunt and was doing ok within my group. I would use launcher pistol to bleed them and then just stay about 30-40 meters away with my flame thrower and hope for hits......I was racking in about 3500xp per kill.... and it was fun...with the occasional one hit incap when the maulers brought the sucker my way...lol
I was then lucky enough (or not) to hit my first box in flame and a commando was also in the group. Now I had Flame1 and was doing 3000+ damage....woot...or so I thought. The requirment to be within 16m really makes it tough to use it effectifly on anykind red mob worth respect. I was suddenly being incaped and DBed left and right....I didn't get more than 700xp after I started using flame1...because I was incaped for the rest of the battle or dead![]()
I definatly need to rethink my stradegy now with the new range restriction. Before I was playing like a marksman
....Now I need to learn to play like a commando![]()
