Thread: TKA v.s. Commando

I decided to get TKA to compliment my commando skill. I thought that i could use the extra melee and ranged defense and i hear great things about the meditate line. As soon as I got novice TKA, I was near to a comparison to my commando skills (1020). Now I'm TKA 0021 and i did it in a fraction of the time. I'm doing much less damage and my TK skills also let me shed my character or his armor. I also cause more damage. In a rancor hunt I was expirementing with, (enraged) 20 bodyshot2's got less xp than 2 unarmedhit2's. I dont see how this is possible. How can a skill that took so little effort and skillpoints to acheive beat one of the most skill point consuming proffesion availible (second to be exact). Now that I'm TK 0021, I out-match my commando skills with my VK's. Sure I love TK and I'm glad it's like this. But still, everyone comes to enjoy themselves when playing so they expect balance. Now i'm not saying NERF TK cause that's just wrong, I'm completely against NERF'ing, but instead of NERF'ing TK, how about fixing the broken professions? At the moment I'm planning on mastering TK and Commando. But if I see one more NERF to commando without a fix on the side it looks like I'll sadly be jumping ship off Commando, and I dont want this to happen because I've had fun with Commando and I really like it.

I see TKA as being one of the only working professions. Everything else needs to be brought up to a level to match it, so yeah. Fix, fix, fix!

TKA > Commando

TKA + Commando = you get kited.

TKA in PvP can easily be kited by a commando, you just have to make sure youre out of the unarmed lunge range, and watch in case they burst run. They cant do a damn thing.

Its not easy to kite anything unless your fighting outside a city. Its not likely anyone can always react correctly to a burst run and lunge, as the delay is too much in the game. From the time you "see" them burst, from the time it takes for your suppresion fire or your own burst run to kick in, it will be too late.

Time will tell if commando becomes better. I hope only for the best.

TKM have nothing on us, you just need to be fast enough to get the first shot.

Assuming you don't miss, which is a big friggin assumption. Oh, and also assuming the dude ain't wearing nice armor and isn't buffed.

Well, a week after the big commando nerf, I dropped most of commando (still got the demolitions line) and picked up TKM. A smart TKM vs a smart commando is an absolute mismatch. The commando has no chance as the dps between these two professions is night and day. Asa TKM now, I don't even pay attention to commandos in pvp. When I'm fighting against a group with a commando, the commando is always the last one I take down, as the commando is, by far, the lowest threat and has no real way of hurting me in full buffs and armor. I've taken down 3 master commandos holding flamethrowers (all fully buffed and armored as well) and my health never fell below halfway (didnt even have to use a stim B). I have a Huge problem with this (I'll always be a commando at heart, ALWAYS!!!) and I can only hope that we enlighten the devs as to the complete and total ineffectiveness of a commando in pvp and gcw scenarios.

Difference being, CMs actually get something for their skill points....

TKMs will almost always own a Master Commando, even if the Commando hits first with a Flamesingle. Since I'm both though, they really complement each other. I like to KD + Dizzy people and then burn them. But as mentioned earlier, a Commando with no melee skills is no match for a TKM.

A piece of advise for all you commandos out there, you have Brawler skills, so switch to your Launcher Pistol for 2 seconds and Intimidate your enemy before you bust out your flamethrower. Trust me, reducing their damage by 1/2 can save you during the delay. Also, after you use your flamethrower, don't just stand there and get shot while you're waiting for your next chance to burn them; duck behind a wall and run away, they will chase you. I like to run around buildings so that they can't shoot you, and as soon as you can attack back, suddenly rush towards them, burn them, and run off again. Hey, people will call you a coward, but you'll be alive and they'll be dead. I've been attacked by 3-4 people at once and killed them all with this strategy. Doesn't always work though, but it does increase your chances.

Rifleman is pretty bad to go against. Even if you are fully buffed and wearing armor... they'll hit you every second with headshots from their jawa... with deadly accuracy from 0m to 65m. They won't be likely to miss and even if you have ranged mitigation 3, they will probably incap and long range DB you before you force them to heal themselves. The flame DoT doesn't even seem to be a big worry for them anymore. As a commando, we don't do well at hitting moving targets, or hitting things while moving. I think it would be fair if riflemen had pretty similar limitations. It would also be nice if their high power specials did not work inside of 19 meters, just like ours don't work outside of that radius.

Stun layers in your armor help, but only to a point. I don't know if things will be better after the rebalance or not.

It also kind of bothers me that the rifleman also seems better at fighting heavy armor targets than commandos because of the mighty T21.

So, I sometimes wonder what exactly our role is... and what the rifleman's role is supposed to be.
