Ok, first off, commando will NEVER be really good at REAL PvP in its current state, accuracy/lack of AP/resists on armor/buffs (all components of what I consider REAL PvP) really hurt us a lot, with that in mind... here's my template.

Master Commando (flame IV is NOT a commando template IMHO, so this'ns a no brainer)

Rifleman 0 4 0 4 (added ranged/melee defense, quite funny to note that I'm actually more effective with a T21 with this setup than I am with my commando weapons.... hehe oh well)

TKA 0 0 0 4 (I know, lacking meditation, but this is just for more defenses)

The rest of the points, I personally sank into scout explore 3, I just can't stand getting kited uphill due to no TN, with commando... you can be kited by a master brawler, so I HAD to get this.

However, you could also put the remaining points into pistoleer 0 0 4 0 for state defenses, coming in really handy is the Defense vs. KD, considering we're nearly always in range.

I'd like to point out as well, that it's sad to me that I had to do all this to be SLIGHTLY PvP viable, in spite of the fact that at master commando, I've already spent a LOT of SP on combat skills.

with this setup, you can enjoy commando in PvP, though the accuracy of your flamer will be a real pain in the rear end. Fortunately, you can just buy tons of skill tapes to help that out. What? commando skill tapes are broken? Well aint that the surprise of the century! Accuracy, in the end, is something that you just have to deal with if you're one of those die-hard commandos.

(interesting note, I can almost foresee a nerf to cross-prof defenses in the near future, if a lurking dev reads this and discovers that commando's still have something that gives them hope. this'd be one thing makin us keep the profession, stopping them from removing it from the game)

Well, maybe this'll give some of you guys some hope, I know it's made my game at least a little more fun to die in the first 5 seconds instead of the first 3 in PvP. Additionally, I found it very interesting how dang good rifles are when I had to grind rifles up to concealment IV. I swear, if I weren't such a stubborn idiot, I'dve dropped commando, kept my master title, gone master rifleman/TKM, picked up the new disruptor rifle, and felt a lot more commando-ish than I feel now.

erm... please don't flame me, it burns... and stuff

i agree with what you said....commando isnt the best PvP profession. now since commandos are supposed to be the TOP ranged fighting profession, thats why you need master marksman, then why are they so weak. even in PvE, commandos should rule in this department of star wars but yet again the devs find away to screw us over. with hard opponents in PvE they are all usually acid/flame resistant, well maybe not singing mountain sisters(i think they arent) and those are the 10k ham ones, i havent seen the hard ones of SM sisters, only nightsisters and 100%, sure they give us blast, ok so what does blast... launcher pistol, RL, gernades...ok fine, launcher pistol sucks, gernades and RL take a **edit** load of time before you can use it again, and if you hit it when they are moving is lucky. i used a gernade (novice commando cert. one) it did 850 dmg blast. some npc was 5% under effective and it did....40 dmg!!! WOW! just imagin in PvP where they are buffed and armored. the gernade should knock their ass down along with RL. even launcher pistol should get aknockdown skill maybe since it is explosion too...now im not saying make everything a kd weapon for commando, but when was the last time you saw someone get hit from a gernade or RL and not fall down (well they would explode probably but you know what i mean)

if you watch the movies jabba and the rest of the people in his palace were scared because leah(dont know how to spell her name) was holding a thermal detonator, and in this game it cant kill one person...think about it devs

Absitively, posolutely right... how did it come to this?

More importantly... is there any hope that the "rebalance" will remedy some of this?

I'm master commando, and I don't know that I'd be noticebly less effective at it if I justfell back to 0-0-4-0. The other trees are mostly for fun because of the variety.I'm not sure the cash burn of using the consumables regularly is worth it - fun or not.
