NO.

It gives you heavy weapons xp...

I get pistol xp when I use it. I am novice commando/master gunfighter, and when I hunt, I receive mostly heavy weapons xp, but also about 50 pistol xp per kill. I wondered about it, but it is so small that it doesn't bother me.

The pistol XP will be from Bleeds or Melee Defence, I think.

An interesting thing is that when you max out on Heavy Weapons xp, you will beging to receive Pistols xp. But not until you're max'd.

When I use Launcher Pistol......I get no Hvy Weapon or Pistol Exp unless i Bleed shot.

The LP use to give Pistol XP but was changed a long time back at our request.

As far as I have scene, the only time you'll get pistol xp is when you use /healthshot1 or /healthshot2 to apply a bleed....you get pistol xp related to the damage the bleed tick does. It's because the Bleed DoT(an after shot effect)is a pistol process and the AI only knows to register it as Pistol XP...when a DoT is applied, the system registers theweapon typefor the initial shot, butdoesn't retain what type of weapon applied the DoT for further damage, it just registers that it was a pistol special and does a specific amount of damage each tick on a timer.

As above and also I have found you get it ifyou use Pistol melee defence 1, don't use since it is junk for some reason, if anyone knows what pistol melee defence 2 does let me know as it has eluded me
