Commando Archive

Here's a thought. People are complaining about spending so much in commando and still needing another proff to make it viable. They don't want that. Heck. What do they want to spend their other points on?

Okay. I can see the point there. I know a Special Operations Staff Sergeant who is an excellent tailor? No. . . that doesn't sound right. I know a Navy Seal who can cook some really good brownies. Hmmmmm. I know this Delta Force Sergeant who is a really good rabit tamer. Still not right. I know a Marine Recon specialist who also acts as the teamsa scout sniper having been to Sniper School. Ooooooh. What a concept?

You have your basic combat skills which make you very dangerous to begin with then, if you are REALLY dedicated to the profession of combat you pick up another skill to compliment your original skill. Otherwise you are a just a regular 'bullet catcher'.

HOWEVER, I would put my money on the Spec Ops sniper over the line unit sniper any day.

Just something to think about. Commando's should be versatile. A commando against a run of the mill professional should have a much better chance of winning. Elite troops are trained to use every weapon at their disposal, from their grenades, rifles to their shoe laces and e-tools. (an e-tool is a shovel for those that don't know, not a primitive form of e-web). A rifleman knows ONE weapon. The commando knows that weapon (maybe not as well) but he knows that weapons weaknesses and he knows how to exploit them with other weapons at his disposal.

A commando should be a lot more dangerous with a rifle than some line infantryman who has reached Marksman. A master scout sniper (aka Master Rifleman) is another beast. Chances are the commando has been to sniper school (and maynot be actively practicing it, but knows some of the tricks). Trivia devotees will note that the classification for weapons skills in the US Military are Marksman, Sharpshooter and Expert, with Expert being the best and Markman as barely qualified.
