Thread: Garvin, will we get our new heavy weapon?
i hope so,that would be a much needed touch to the current commando system

With as much time and energy that the Devs are putting into the CB, I'm afraid we won't get much of anything until after it hits the live servers...Any changes the devs make to us before then would impact the Combat Balance and they don't want to mess it up at this point...I think that's why TH keeps telling up to wait for the CB...
The SL Correspondent and I are pushing for the introduction of the E-Web during the SL Revamp coming up...Also during min-publish 10.1 there is time set aside to address Correspondent Top 5's....and one of our Top 5's is our Heavy Weapons...
So basically...nothing really coming until Publish 9 (that's when we get the specifics on the CB since we'll start testing it)...
When is the combat balance supose to happen? anyone have an idea as to around when?

The Combat Balance is scheduled for release with Publish 10....But we don't have to wait that long for details...Around Publish 9 they will open up a new Test Server specifically to test the Combat Balance. Correspondents and Veteren Players will supposedly be able to get on this new Combat Test Server and as soon as we do we'll be able to report back what we find...
Publish 9 isn't that far off...We just had Publish 8...There is no specific date set, but Publishes have been averaging about 1 every month and half lately (at least that's what it seems like)...
I personally like the idea that they are going to let us test the CB before it goes live...we'll be able to get feedback in there before we are "stuck" with it...We as Commandos have a ton of expectations and I for one understand that it will be very hard for this CB to meet all of them, but I'll be happy if they meet even half our issues...something is better then nothing...and TH has told us repeatedly that Commandos are one of the professions most effected by the CB...so to me, that's fairly exciting (good or bad)...
Unfortunately we have to play the waiting game a bit longer though...

Waiting Sucks. I even hate waiting for the next stream of hot wet napalm to come rushing out my blow-torch.
Tell us something!!!

Do you know anything more about this? (or, more importantly, if you do, what can you tell us)
Unfortunately that pretty much is the extent of what I know...but now that TH and the other Devs are back from E3 I can again put the pressure on them for more info...so hopefully we will be hearing something soon...
I can tell you that it turns out that the whole reason the CB was ever delayed was because the Devs wanted to give us a chance to test it before going live...The had to wait for the equipment to arrive and to set up the new Combat Test Server...Since they want this to be a big scale test, they didn't want a flood of new folks to the current TC just for Combat Changes...they want that testing seperate...and if you've followed JustG's State of the Game post recently, notice that with Publish 9 they are also finally rolling out the Character Copy/Transfer system...my guess is it's not a coincidence...we should be able to copy our current character templates from live and use them on TC without effecting our live versions...
Question: Will the character, if moved to the test server, no longer exist on the old server? Or will a copy of my character exist on the test server, while his life, house, town connections, militia status, etc. all remain intact on Flurry?
This is all unconfirmed....If it works like originally proposed, it will make an exact duplicate of your character on the live server over on the Combat TC server...so it will be a completely seperate unconnected character...the only drawback is that only your skills will be copied...all your credits and gear will not be copied...so you'll have to work on getting stuff again (unless the devs supply us with stuff)...

I'd be very into temporarily moving my master commando to the combat balance test server.
