Thread: Secondary Combat Prof To Commando

hi yall,


this is my first post in these forums and i was wondering if yall could give me a little advice...i am wondering what yall think is the best complimentary combat profession to commando, besides TKA. im looking to use guns only for combat. also i am looking to do just PvE id rather stay away from PvP for now. any advice yall could give me would be most helpful.

Check the new bh stuff then with the lowered skill points needed alot are going that way

Yeah you might want to check out the new BH templates that are coming out. In the past I would have said TKM, but now with the weapon delay change it is terrible save for the melee and ranged defenses that you get.

In the past the more popular Commando templates would include mostly Teras Kasi or Pistoleer. There's a few who pick Fencer.


With the Bounty Hunter requirements relaxed, there's all kinds of templates you can try with them. For instance, you can be a Master Commando and take at least 0004 in Bounty Hunter. You will then have access to all the Special Heavy Weapons in the game.

I disagree with the advice to pick BH on the basis that it has "lowered SP costs". It now costs just as much SP to get to BH as it does to Commando. And the secondary profession should be chosen with defense mods in mind, due to the complete and total lack of defense mods on our part. I've found that TK is a good way to go b/c once you master commando you get combat xp in mass and you really have nothing else to do with it, the really good TK defensive mods (melee defense/ranged defense) only cost combat xp. But unless you have no scout skills and no medical skills you can't master TK and Commando. So I would just headhunt for specific defense mods that you want. If anyone knows any different please say so...I could use it myself.

I've always kept the first tree of scout. Terrain negotiation does help in certain situations.


I have 3004 TKA for defense/meditation, and 0004 BH for the LLC. And if I do get bored with the LLC, drop that and switch to 0040 BH to use the LP.

I like pistoleer as a second profession, but there is a lot of merit in smuggler. 1st, you already have the prerequisites, 2nd you can feign death (very handy for PvE),3rd no need to master it unless you want to for the spice and slicing, 4th if you do not master it you can dabble in pistoleer and TKA and improve your defenses.

I myself am going for master commando and the defensive mods of TKA. I'm not sure how far up the TKA tree to go apart from the defense mods. If anyone has any advice as far as this goes, any help would be appreciated.


Oh, and as a side note if you noticed my sig, I am planning on scrapping most if not all of my architect skills.
