More like, if it creates more work the Devs will need a HUGE reason to add it...Not to knock them, but if they can re-use animations already in game you have a better chance at getting an idea to be strongly considered...


For example...adding a new Assult rifle that uses animations of other rifles already in game has a better chance of making it then something that requires all new animations...


A great example of this is the recent response I got back from a programmer after I've been pushing for the Underslung Carbine to be added to the Commando profession...Apparently the animations for this weapon (being that it is very different then other weapons out there) have not been created...It would take a lot of attention to create the needed introductory 32 animations, and that's just manpower they don't want to take away from elsewhere at this time...so a weapon like the Underslung Carbine won't be making it into the game as a player used weapon for a while...


The trick really seems to be "take what is already working and build on it"...that's one of the reasons I think we have a better chance of getting our HAR converted into what we want more then getting the Devs to create an all new Assult rifle (or for that matter, it would hopefully be easier for us just to get the Beam Rifle cert)...


So, while Bayonets are a great idea (and has come up a few times in the past), the animations that aren't currently available might nix the idea for us in the Devs minds until everything else "more pressing" in their eyes get's covered...

Well, Im a fairly new commando. Im not doing the jedi grind..just want to try something new! Im having fun so far..to bad my vid card sucks and the commando weapon animations kills my frame rate!

There was talk awhile back of adding a "Melee" attack with our weapons that would be similar to what Pistoleers have...something like hitting our opponent with the butt end of our FT or HAR...not sure how much animation changes that would be of if the Devs could use what they have for the Pistoleer Melee attack...

How but you just hold teh weapon in your left hand and pull your right hand off the trigger and slug em a good one in the chops. I mean if a guy runs up to you and is standing right in front of you just knock em in the mouth. Hey and thats unramed!! and wouldn't shouldn't require changing weapons. We'll just call it the knuckle sandwhich and go on back to the big guns....... E-web or atleast a portable tripod turret... please please please

They kill my framerate too, don't worry. I have an excuse though..i own a dell, go figure, lol. I'm lucky I got this gig of RAM for christmas right before i went commando though, or i would have wasted that combat XP. I would have had to drop it because i would have lagged so bad. But now any time i'm not using a commando weapon its soooooooo smooth. I love DDR :-p.

You know how everyone complains that we have an unarmed prerequisite to get to commando, and how we dont have any rifles or carbines in the commando tree...Well, what if commandos were able to attach a bayonet onto their rifles and carbines? For those close quarters combat, we can use our bayonet for fighting. There will be no need for switching weapons, and we can use the unarmed specials. We wont be as fast, since its a big weapon, but at least it will give us an advantage for when people run up on us and we arent so accurate.


We can shoot with it from far away and use to gut people when they get close.


I think this is right up the Commando's alley....
