Thread: commmando/CH worth it?

If its worth anything, before last night I was Master CH/Master Pistoleer but I came to the realization that after 18 months my pets were finally doomed to never walk with pride again so I decided to respect CH away and keep Pistoleer.
I finally decided on BH because of the extra defenses and specials it allowed. I did consider Commando but by choosing BH I realized I already had the prereqs in place from CH and that allowed me to have more free points being Master BH/Pistoleer than I would have had Master Commando/Pistoleer. With the left over points I had I took a suggestion off the either the BH or Pistoleer forum and picked up Sqaud Leader 0/4/0/4 and got some amazing melee/ranged defense bonuses to boot.
I know the pain you are going through deciding to drop CH but I frankly became tired of the whole being useless thing and I decided that with the opportunity to respec I better take it since the grind for anything sucks now and I wanted to try and be a viable player again and not someones whipping post. I will miss my pets greatly but I dont see a future for them other than target practice for what I respec'd to.

ive always been a wild hunter.. and wild creature tamer.. and ive been a rifleman/CH which i totall loved but now the creatures agro me unless im using a highely agressive cirtter which i can live with and stay in cover and snipe. but i cant wear my favorite armor (chitin) soo im gonna try this temp for a bit
commando/swordsman with some scout might be one hella tank.. not sure yet.. but i got just over a week to decide.. ill have to let you know how it works.. i guess i can always pick up some new bio pets to be my freinds.. but it just wont be the same as my klik hunters or crimson razor cat or hendack stonecrusher or the crazzy swamp stalker that agros everything in site /wink
Keep in mind that there are no specials in commando. You only have the status, DoT, and/or AoE attack with basic attacks with no elite ranged prof... so make sure if you can try to take up a novice ranged profession as well to give you a little more bang for the buck. I have a friend trying this atm, but haven't heard from him to see if he likes it.

Again I feel your pain I have been Master CH for what.....18 months now and after dropping it yesterday I am coming around to be a viable player without having to rely on my pets to be a meat shield and delaying the inevitable....the aggro whatever it is gets to me anyway and my pets take vitality hits.
Also just an update on my template....I decided against the squad leader option with my leftover skill points and instead went rifleman 0/4/0/4.....thus my full template is now Master BH/Master Pistoleer and Rifleman 0/4/0/4.
Check it out i has some real potential. The reason I decided on Rifleman is because the light lightning cannon is considered a rifle when it comes to bonuses so naturally rifleman enhances my use of it.
