Thread: How is Commando?

I am an aspiring commando and I was wondering if anybody knew if this class is still pagued by the problems it had during Beta (low damage, lack of available weapons, etc.). I will most likely do it anyway (in hopes that they fix it), but any input I could get on the subject would be appreciated.

Basically, the IGN article states we are one of the Heavy Hitters in the CU. Sadly, we are meant to be, but we're not. A MBH/MCarbineer w/ a powered up Proton Carbine has a DPS of 700+. I'm running +18 Hvy Weap Speed w/ my (now gimped, sadly converted) Plasma Flamethrower at just a little over 500 DPS w/ a combat line remaining.
Grenades aren't working well, there are about 2 guns that are worth using thanks to the CL system, we recieve no specials and very little speed in comapirson to other ranged professions, AOE isn't working as intended, and personally my Burn DOT isn't sticking well. Basically, we spend points to "power up" other ranged professions but are finding out we're better off using the profession's own weapon.
Starnick's doing an awesome job as a correspondent, always here discussing issues, leaking out hints about the CU beforehand, and doing a swell job. All of these issues are known and if you want a detailed report refer to one of his threads.

Since the respec has given us the oppertunity to explore new professions, I've been considering converting my Rifleman on Bloodfin into a Commando, if for no other reason than because it's one of the few combat professions I've never played, and having a flame thrower seems really cool. What're your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
