Go to the roundtable discussion ending 2-9. The first post by TH he answered someones question of why not find middle ground instead of taking away stacking. Check it out for yourself.
I dont want to get hopes up as I dont know what that middle ground will be but to me things seem like they arent going to be so bad.
There are going to be some big changes everywhere so keep in mind we may be a totally diferent force. I personally would trade a lot about the FT for a more inner balanced (not meaning balance to other professions) skill tree and no I dont mean make the FT like our other weapons just saying give us the versatility.

Im really curious to see how this is gonna pan out. At first, I hated the ideas of not stacking defenses... but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that it might be better for commandos in a PvP way. I can take down just about any profession... even at its mastery as a Master Commando. The people I find most difficult to hit in battle are the master rifleman/TKM, pistoleer/fencer, or insert any other extremely high defense template with dodge or counterattack. I think it might work out alright, and if it does, I'll be able to pick up scout and get some terrain negotiation again... becuase lets face, at master commando I spend the rest of my SP on defensive mods from other professions.

Well at one point they said that will be no longer stackable at all including dodge/block/counter and I'm assuming status defensse also but now hes saying something about working on a middle ground to make it where you wont be able to have the unhitable hybrid but yet be able to still customize and use some stacking from my understanding.

like ive said in the core systems forum. Once they remove the defense stacking, even ranged/melee, people will just jump to the abilities stacking.
Then we'll get the constant whining and bitching about everyone using master brawler KD from 20m, about too many combat medics lobbing mustard gas around, about everyone in pvp being a doctor and running around with 5k ham bars, etc etc etc.
Read my post in the GWC forum about this subject.
