It is freaking sweet! The only thing i've ever used in this game are pistols and i was never happy with the damage. Well, just to test it out I went and killed some lesser plains bols....4600 flameshot single...3600 cone...i am happy!
I maintain my number 1 reason why i think commandos are the coolest....we look the coolest!

You made it all the way to commando 3030 without ever using a flame thrower?? Good God man, what were you waiting for??!!

I didn't use it for a few reasons..
1. i heard we miss like crazy below flame 3, so i just stuck with the LP
2. i had a bunch of fun with the LP
3. i wanted to use my brand new smuggler skills too...oh well, no more last ditch and low blow with this flamer..but who cares.

I always advise new Commandos to use their FT's less and their LP's more until they hit 0030 Commando (0020 at the minimum) because with the accuracy issues, you'll perform better with the LP...
I also advise temporarily (at the very least) picking up Novice Pistoleer while you grind with the LP...that gives you /healthshot2 which works great with the LP...makes the grind go much faster...
Once a Commando hit's 0030, they should use nothing but the FT to finish the grind to Master...

Really? I loved my flamer since my first shot... it only got better when I got flame single 1... whoo hoo!!! I never really had a very good Launcher Pistol, since weapons weren't very advanced in the game at that time, so I think I was better off with my flamer.
But the Launcher Pistol was fun to use in public, because I became a Commando early enough in the game (Sept 03) that not many people had ever really seen the animations for it before. Using it always caused heads to turn and usually led to several 'tells' from anyone nearby asking what the heck I was using.
That was when it used to be fun to be a commando.. I've since moved on to TKM, but still hold my beloved Flame thrower and the Shock Trooper skills.

or you could use the HW xp you got from capping out with the llc

Hehe, i'm halfway up the FT tree, and i haven't even equipped on yet.
Since i'm a MBH, i've just been using the LLC, and probably will till i finish the ft tree(already have plenty of speed, accuracy, and specials).

I did Bounty Hunter first soI could max out on Heavy Weapon xp. Then whenI went commando I got to 0030 at the same time.
