Thread: Broken Cone Attacks...
I've hunted on Dantooine around the Imperial Outpost and the Mountain Quill cave on Tatooine lately (monday & tuesday the 15th/16th)where half the times I ended up with 1-3 opponents and the cone 1 works very well for me. Even on multiable opponents around 4-5 it worked like I had in mind it would. It checks to hit versues all the targets it can hit and applies damage aswell as burn dot. I've gotten exp and faction the times I've noticed, I dident check each and every mob but I saw a stream of You have gotten xxxx weapon cp / xxxx combat xp / XX faction and so on. I dident see you mention how you fight, but the way I do it is with a pet to tank so I can position my self in the best spot possible and keep the mobs clustered together on my pet. This allows me to take time to select the middle mob in the crowd and then use cone on it.
So far all I can say is it doesn't seem to be broken to me.
OK I have just gotten done with my second round of testing about cone attacks for Commandos being broken... so far have tested it on NPC's of various types including Strom Troopers and on various high and low lvl creatures in the game. Results were the same across the board.
I fire Flamecone 1 or Acidcone 1 at a target and I get the following message as an example:
"You use your flame thrower to spray a cone of fire onto Yabri Hermonen (an Imperial Private) for 2365 damage." (Primary target)
"You use your flame thrower to spray a cone of fire onto Harti Yargtoth (an Imperial Private) for 4337 damage."
"You use your flame thrower to spray a cone of fire onto LK- 173 (a Storm Trooper) for 3588 damage."
Now if I hit Peace right away and check all these targets it is clear that the initial damage I got in that message is only true for the Primary target... all the others in reality took no damage what so ever.
If Iam using a flame thrower then all 3 targets got the Burn DOT on them but onlythe first target took the damage listed. And the burn DoTs use the damage listed in the green combat spam ot determine how big aDOT the target should have on it. However it never actualy applies that damage except as a determination of the Burn DOT value.
If I am using acid rifle then only the Primary target takes the damage and there is zero effect of any kind on the others who were caught in the cone even thought the green combat spam will tell you they took damage. In reality they took zero.
I have had people tell me I am imagining things here but I just went and tested this again just now and discovered it is just as true right now as it was a week ago when I first discovered it. I tested this all day long over and over and alwasy onlythe primary target takes the damage.
Additionaly if I peace right away and let the Burn DOT run its course I get experiece and faction only for the first target. The others die all right but I get no faction or exp becuase they die to a DOT.
Now I have to get some other people to go out and test this also =). Feel free to go prove me wrong and post your results here =).
But please test this as of now. Don't go on results form a few weeks ago when the changes first took place... test it currently. I am telling you that however this used to work before I got my flame and acid cones as of today it is broken and if it is broken we need to start working on getting this fixed.

"Good...Bad...I'm the one with the gun."
Hehe OK folks I jsut tried this out with Acid Rifle again and it is broken as can be. If you do it with an acid cone 1 attack it is much more noticable... key point here is not ot do any damage but the beginning attack. If you use a pet or any other moves then your doing damage and get exp. Use acid cone...then hit peace. check the creatures. They don't take damage...only the one you targeted.
You still get the chat spam that says you hit htem but no actual damage when you look at their HAM.
And i know that other classes AE's have been fixed recently like Combat Medic. And the rifleman AE is working just fine. This is specific to heavey weapons. Will pop over the the BH boards and see if they are getting it also.

New info from another BH.

I don't think the initial attack will damage non-aggro mobs (even if the damage might be displayed). This might beto prevent you from killing 10 mobs at a time in a single shot with little risk. Once mobs are aggro though, I've been able to use LLC1 to kill multiple targets.
Just test it and itseems that cone attacks are not working when creatures are not aggro. Once the creatures getaggro it works.
But are cone attacks suppose to work this way?? Are they suppose to work only whencreatures are aggro?? If they are supposed to work only whencreatures are aggro why willthe combat log says that they have recieved damaged?? So is the combat log bugged or the cone attacks bugged??
