Ok, Im having hard time mapping out and effective stradegy in PVP. I currently have the thrid box in flamethrower filled so inflicting damage is not and issue. My issue is, Whenever im in a raid I have to get close to my opponnets to effectively use my specials. But once I char broil one character im defenseless from that point on, and the other players know this, and before I can take cover Im wasted!!!

Could some of you fellow commando's share some of your experiences in PVP, and what's and effective stradegy using the weapons we have. Thank you any insight would be appreciated

Commandos have issues in high level PvP. The downtime after specials can be brutal and we don't currently have any AP, non-charged weapons. I suggest un-equiping your FT if you're facing melee damage and trying to break line of sight with your attackers.

Is all you have flamethrower 3? What about field tactics or heavy support orside professions?

One thing I can say right off... never pvp with your commando title showing. And don't 'start' at PvP battles with your flamethrower or launcher pistol in hand. Broadcasting that you're a commando will get you targeted.

Don't forget that you're a master marksman in addition to a commando; use the skills from your prereq profession. If you are fighting in long range combat... use a rifle. I like the jawa ion rifle, because most people don't have stun-resist armor and it's AP 1. The laser rifle is good too, but slower and sometimes delivers a very low hit. Use your rifle and start applying mind bleeds to people, maybe zap them with a headshot or two.

Many pistol and carbine users will charge at a rifleman... let them.Melees see riflemen as juicy targets and will also charge. Let them. Let them run up to you and come inside 16 meters of their own free will - and that's when you drop the rifle, whip out your flamethrower, and make them a crispy critter. The flamethrower is more of a defensive weapon than an offensive one - you use it to burn down people who get too close. Otherwise, you just run up and get killed after you flame down one target, as you said.

The HAR can be useful sometimes in PvP because alot of people don't know what it looks like and don't recognize its firing effect (which is also hard to see). But you're probably better off using a rifle.

Some other tricks - your launcher pistol can wreak havoc with the sounds and graphics of the explosions. And it's accurate at all ranges. Use it to rattle the enemy and inhibit their vision if they don't have effects turned off. Grenades can be used at 20-40 meter range for good effect. Take the credit loss and fire your rocket launcher into enemies that are bunched up - you can usually hit 3 or 4 people and maybe petswith one shot if they are city fighting and gathered together.

Thank you for the replys, this information is very helpful. But as for weapons, im having a hard time finding shops that sell commando weapons. Such as particle beam, Acid Beam, Grenades. But how useful are the heavy support weapons, Ive seen what the rocket launcher can do, but what about the other weapons in that skill tree.?

I pvp everday and alls i can say commando rocks in pvp,,JUST DONT SHOOT ANYTHING BUT

SPECIALS,,,dont give yourself away with regular flamershots ,,,,And get as fast as flamer as you possible

can,,,it helps drasticly,,,i can shoot a special every 7 seconds with a 3.2 speed flamer,,and i use cone

always in pvp battles,,,i take out a huge number of people all the time,,,,just shoot and move on to next group

of people,,even if it doesnt kill them they will die just from the dot flame bleed

The flamethrower autoattack is very good.. Until they fix it if anyone has a carbine or rifle equiped you will get high damage with the autoattack. Generally charging a group is a bad idea because you will be targeted by most people in group. At range use the autoattack or heavy weapons if you have them.I know FIKU had some last time I went to his shop. The heavy particle beams can 1 shot people pretty consistantly. Its also not very noticible with lots of combat goin on. You can use heavy weapons without any weapon equiped as well. If you are 1 on 1 just hope they dont have a good knockdown dizzy ..

First of all, dont try to rely on your specials in pvp or you will be toast. Im a bit of an exception because im also a teras kasi master. My tactic is to flame someone up real well (or an entire group with flame cone) then run inside a building and switch to melee. 9 times out of 10 they chase me because they are peeved I set them on fire and think that im a high priority target being a commando. By the time they catch me the downtime has worn off, and they are in for a real treat......... forced close quarter combat with a teras kasi master while on fire. haha, works great for me.

However, if I dont feel like beating peoples faces in with my melee moves, there are only 3 other times I use my specials in pvp. One is when i have plenty of places to hide, the battle is new, and its important to inflict maximum damage right away to give your team the upper hand. The second is when im in a bind and probably going to get incapped, I use that flame special to save my Zabrak behind. And the third time, is when im fighting one of them stubborn ranged/medic combo guys who just wont die because he keeps healing himself.

Other than what I just listed, if you try to rely on your specials in pvp, you will get owned over and over again. Try mixing it up with some grenades a little, they can be alot more useful than you think, especially against targets wearing armor.

USE YOUR Luancher Pistol and lag them to death!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHA

it's funny, but of course it doesn't do much dmg...

I use defualt attacks I'm a heavey support class imo, I'll run up after melee's get in their face then flame them, or I'll stand back and pester them with the autoattack

Well flamethrower close to bralwer tactics so maye i can help some being a fencer. First off in major engagements dont wear the commando title. Its a big sign saying lets kill and wound and stay away from him.Second dont go into battle with FT or launcher pistol out. Same reason as before it breaks your cover. Wait till chaos ensures then bringout the marshmellow toaster and try to land a critical hit on an enemy in key position. (eg sniper.) as a fencer this is what it try to do and have actually turn the tide on battlefield by taking out a sniper who was covering the enemies back entrance on a battlefield.
