So I've been running around frying whatever I can with my flame thrower, trying to get my HW xp up. I've noticed that with some creatures, particularly the ones with higher heat resists, even if i set them ablaze, the fire seems to mysteriously put itself out after a while. I'm thinking this might be due to the higher heat resist. HOWEVER, i have also had this happen with creatures who had aroundmuch lessheat resist (sometimes as low as 15%), particularly humanoid npc's (such as canyon corsairs and nym's troops). Why is this? Could be due to a higher HAM? Or the fact that higher heat resist means that the target takes less or zero direct damage from a flame cone/flame single, relying entirely upon DOT? The DOT might then simpy expend itself until the fire smolders. Beats me. Anyone know what the deal is?

If resists, or armor affect the fire dot, it is a bug. No other dot in the game is affected by armor or resists and the fire dot shouldn't either unless they make it so they all are.

The flamethrower DOT is not affected by armor or resistances. It is something That they will probably change. The length of the flame DOT does seem to be kinda patchy. On ATSTs Ive seen it do anywhere from 1/3 to full health with the DOT.

Well the fire dot is 1/3 of the damage you do with the special attack so maybe the targets just lives that much longer so you see the fire burn out, versus targets which has low heat resists and takes much higher damages from the direct hit which results in a higher dot damage. The dot has a fixed duration by the way it doesn't just last forever, also it can be extingvished by submerging in water.
