HEHE, haha, I always thought that was the most rediculous idea ever. Its funny to think that folks not only pay their subscription fees but they are so wrapped up that they would actually spend hard earned money for play money. I got a box full of Monoply money at home. Any one want to bid on that?

I have the same tipping stradigy as listed above. Roughly half. If my spirits are high and the trainer was nice and all that I tip more. I have wondered what folks will spend money on once they have all their equipment and I can not think of anything currently.

I suppose when they get the bugs worked out, and we all lose the newbie death where you spawn with everything on you. Folks will be spending that money on insurance.

Ifyou're on Lok or somewhere else that's remote and need training, a few thousand credits as a tip to a fellow Commando is NOTHING compared to the shuttle fees +time wasted waiting for the shuttle + time wastedsearching in-town forthe NPCtrainer +payingthe NPC.

I think half-price is a decent tip, but if I'm gonna have to pay 3000 just for a round trip shuttle to the closest trainer, I would much rather prefer to pay a fellow commando 3000 extra, which saves time for me to run an few more extra missions.

YES, please tip your trainer.

All I want to know is why haven't I run into any of the above posters that would want training. Most people just expect me to train them, like it's my civic duty or something. Heck, I don't even get a "thank you" half the time. I'm also not just talking about commando skills, but any skills in general. I sure as heck don't need the apprentiship points, but if I tell them I won't train them without a tip of somekind, they'll just run out and find somebody else to train them.

I guess my point is that I'll train in hopes for a tip, but I might get a 200 credit tip once every 20 people or so at best.

I don't train anyone in Commando unless....

1) They are my faction

2) They are a member of my guild

3) I've seen them around in game for a while.

I don't expect tips, neither do I expect to train ppl who I KNOW are commando's just cause they are "wanna-be's". (These are guys that I've seen for a while and have seen them jump from one profession to the next)

I'm usually cool to 1st time ppl that I meet.

Tips are for someone that goes out of their way. If I get trained I dont tip nor do I expect one when I train someone. Its just commen courtesy. If you cause someone to make a special trip then yeah you should tip but not just because they trained you. Training someone takes maybe 5 secs.. Expecting a few thousand is stupid.

I have been a Commando since long before the patch. My main XP focus during the time before the patch was for pistoleer skills that I intend to keep even after I become a master commando. It will not take me long to reach master. People seem to be arguing up and down about "to train or not to train."

I have acquired many skills in the elite trees (pistoleer, smuggler, commando) and have never gone to the NPC trainer for them. At the same time I have never tipped the person training me less than 1500.

People need to realize that whomever teaches you is doing YOU a favor. App points are not enough for the trainer. When I make contact with a potential trainer, I go to them. I do not ask them to come to me. 1500-3000 may not seem like much but it adds up fast and gives the trainer incentive to train.

If you refuse to train somebody they will find someone who will train them. In my opinion it is worth the possibility of a tip to train.

I tend to just go pay for it at the NPC trainer. It's quick, it's easy, and honestly, a faction mission with flamethrower equipped nets 3500 creds. I'd rather do that than run around pestering people.

Now, when it so happens that there's a good commando nearby, I'll tip roughly half of what it would have cost me. Why? Because if he/she trains 2 more nice people like me () they're making a profit, and good for them, too. Any more than half is probably excessive, no matter how many times their flamer hit for 19 back in the day.

I have another take/twist on that....

I'm often out at the rebel base on Rori doing missions and lvling. I get tells very frequently asking for training for the trees. I always reply "sure....i'm in field atm, but if you're there when I come back I'll train you. Also, there's a commando trainer there that can train you"...to which I get the invariable reply "yeah, i know there's one here but I don't want to pay". I've never been trained by anyone other than that trainer...from novice up all the trees. There's never been commandos there who could train me when I could learn a skill. Commandos shouldn't have to worry about money. I can pull 5k missions there on both the reb and creature terms that are soloable in 3 min, even with the most basic skills (FT1). What are you guys saving money for?

In terms of commando skills, I will train if I'm tipped. It's cost me 125k to reach the level I am, and I believe that whenever someone heals (this costs us medics money to heal you guys) or trains someone in commando skills that it is a sign of appreciation. I'll admit this is an answer from someone who has been in this class for a long time and I sound like all the other "old timers." But seriously, we would appreciate tips for training Elite (Hybrid) professions.

I train for free, like someone said I'm a commando and have lots of money the 1500 or so someone gives me is a nice gesture but so is a thank you. I don't tip and I don't expect it.....most of the time if I do get a tip I send it back ( if their in a full set of comp I'll keep it but if they are in bone or newb outfits they need it more them me)

The 125k it takes to get to master is nothing you can make that faster then you can find a commando to train you in 1 skill ( at least thats been my expirience)

I just don't see how new commandos owe pre-pach commados anything.

i paid for every one of my commando skills. there was never anyone around high enough to train me, so i forked out my own cash. but, if someone wants training, i'll usually give it. if they're a rebel, noquestions asked. theyget trained right then and there. and if they tip me, i tip it right back to them. all i'm doing is helping out my side get stronger. if an imperial asks me for training, i'll do it if i know them. if not, i usually refer them to dolph (lol, i know how you hate it too dolph ). but i've been known to train the occasional imperial stranger from time to time.

i get asked all the time for training. a lot of the times, i'm out killing things. i tell them they're gonna have to wait for me if they want the training, and they always understand. so far, i've run into people who realize that i'm doing them a favor, and they shouldn't expect me to drop everything. guess i'm just lucky.

The apprentice points excuse is so old and gray, let it die. I always have more apprentice points than I ever need.

If someone tips me I say thank you. Throwing a gift back at someone or a payment for a service is rude. I always tip 1-3k for elite skills when I'm learning from a player, and I will say "Thanks for saving me the NPC fees" when I tip. Just because they may need the apprentice points doesn't remove my reason to be courteous. On one of my accounts I have a doctor now, any time I train someone (and I'm capped at app xp long ago) if they don't tip me I say have a nice day, if they tip me anything, 50 100 500 credits or more I throw a couple enhance D's on them to encourage the tips.
