I forget what its called exactly. I'm not interested in all the power weapons but I was thinking of possibly going in Commando for the grenades as a supplement to whatever other combat skills I have. Can anyone give me a breakdown on how the new grenades fare in detail? (Any Master Commandos wanna tell me how good the Proton Grenade is [I believe thats the name of the grenade you get at master])

I heard they suck. There are imperial detonaters(blast), frags, cryoban(cold), glop(acid), thermal detonators(heat). I think people say they take too long to throw, are unaccurate, cost alot of HAM, and are expensive.

proton grenades: 10 m blast radius, do heat damage, about the same damage as a rocket launcher. Mine are about 1.5k-3.2k damage and about 5 speed. Great for getting combat exp in another melee class :-)

The slowness is a moot point on TC they are much faster. I was just wondering about damage.

In addition to whats been mentioned i also heard that the blast radius wasnt actually being applied properly. Havent actually tested this myself so cant confirm, but the grenades i have used didnt work on lairs and werentvery accurate.

Grenades really need state changes. Somethin glike:

Frag: force to kneeling
Cryoban: stun
Glop: movement reduction
Imperial Detonator: blind
Thermal Detonator: dizzy & blind
Proton Grenade: Dizzy & Knockdown

Agreed. They need to do more than just normal damage. A decent sized grenade should at the least knock someone off their feet.

I played around with a proton today. Frist one did 5.5k...to myself. After getting a heal and moving back a bit I pitched it at a lair and did about 4k ( 1700 after mods ) to everythign with in about 10m....... Then I took my flamethrower out and did 8k to everything within 16m

They are good for PvP because they don't make a huge light show like the flamethrower but for PvE they are not very good.
