I havn't used it yet, and really wasn't even interested in climbing that skill tree at all, but i have see some posts of poeple that say they like it.

Is it slow like the flamethrower?
Does it do good damage?
Does it have a DOT?

Any other info you can give me about it would be appreciated!

TIA

The downtime between specials does not decrease as you climb the HAR line like the flamethrower specials do, the HAR hits for less damage than the flamethrower, and there is no DoT from the specials.Personally, I have high hopes for the future of this line if they decide to actually turn it into a rifle, give it some real specials that aren't just green versions of the flamethrower specials, and fix the firing animation so it doesn't look like it is firing vertical spears at the target. If you are not planning on mastering Commando, thenin my opinionit's definitely not worth using the skill points on the HAR lineat this time.

its slowER then the flamethrower, the accuracy mods we get dont work with it, the damage it does is less, and no, no DOT.

Thanks for the input guys, this just about solves it - No HAR for me...

What about the Particle Beam Cannon?

In other words, it is measurably inferior to the flamethrower in every way (it does have a better chance to cause wounds that the flamethrower, but that's about it).

The only times it is useful, you'd be better off using the Acid Stream Launcher from a distance. The only reason to spend skill points on this tree at all is to get to Master Commando.

The Particle Beam Cannon is sweet. It has limited charges (about 30) but it does great damage, has a 6 m area of effect around the target and is AP3.

It is an energy weapon, so there are lots of creatures that are resistant, but it's a great complement to the rocket launcher and usually MUCH cheaper than a Rocket Laucher to buy. (RLs frequently sell for 40-50K, HPBCs usually sell for about 20K).

Some people don't like the heavy weapons line because you can usually do more damage with the flamethrower...and the Heavy Wespons have no DOT. But each can be used from range, which is huge and each hassome Armor Piercing (RL and HPBC are AP3, Acid Stream Launcher is AP2 and the Lightning Beam Cannon is AP1). I believe each also has a radius of effect...but I'd need to double check that for the ASL and LBC.

I dont know about the lightning cannon but I'm positive that the acid stream launcher has no radius effect. The HPBC and RL are both very kick ass with a 6m radius and nice damage, that with AP3 for both and they are great weapons.

Can anyone confirm that the radius works on the heavy particle beam cannon? I have never had it hit more than one target...

Its relatively small, and the closest weapon I've tried is the RL, and I can garuntee that the radius on that one works

I just bought my first HAR. So far, I only kill bunnies with it. But gotta give love to the Heavy-heavy weapons line. There is one for each purpose since each has its own type of damage. I've been carrying a boatload of them in my invetory just for this purpose.
I gotta say, there's nothing like the only fighter that gets any notable damage on a Rancor when fighting in group (Acid Launcher). Also, that is why I got the HAR; to see how it compares to the Acid Launcher.
