Thread: How to deal with the 2.5x melee mod. From a Rifleman, I know.
Hey everyone,
It seems you guys just got the same problem us riflemen have. My condolences. The 2.5x melee damage. The devs say new options are being looked at, such as lowering it or making it posture dependent (2.5x for prone, 1.5 for kneeling 1x for standing).
Now, how to deal with it.. You all are master marksmen. You have warning shot. USE IT!. Get yourself a VERY fast scout pistol, ideally with low damage as to not eat your heavy weapons xp. When things get close to you, simply hotkey the pistol from your toolbar, and bust the warning shots 'till the sumbitch runs. Peace for a sec, then torch it
BBQ serves 1-4 depending on races and creature sizes.
This seems to be the only real way to save your ass out there, Any questions, come to our board and most, if not all of us, will be happy to help y'all deal with this disability.

yea, but how do I get within 16m to use the flame specials?? If we don't change weapons in a fraction of a second a any mid-high lvl mob can incap us in one hit.

Hmmm.. Here's a thought, use the aforementioned FAST scout to suppresion fire. Cue the suppresion, then a flamer special right after it. As soon as the supression goes, switch to the flamer. If you and your pistol are quick enough, the MOB should still be on its knees when ya toast it. It will take timing and practice, but it should work..
Good Luck ![]()

A mob can hit from kneeling frequently, if its within melee range, though it can't move. There is another trick we can do though (equip/shoot/dequip). All about micromanaging now. Either get a pet to keep a mob off you or master TKA (it helps somuch now).
Mutant Rancor hitting with flame thrower: 1200
Mutant Rancor hitting a Master TKA unarmed: 180
Knocking down an on fire target: Priceless

Well I guess Bailler must carry a weaponsmith around with him, because gernades run 3k EACH on my server and rocket launchers run 50k.
Bailler you must not fight anything off of the starting worlds, because gernades kill very little in one hit. (and I hit for 2200+ per glop). I suggest you go out and hunt with "all your skills" and find out how fast you do die.
LOLOL i'm just trying to think of you attackinga singlepumbum with gernades.
Thats awesome you all have to deal with that 2.5 melee damage too! I love it! I'm a riflemen and jsut to let you know your commando weapons are set to melee, so now if you fight another commando you'll each be doing 2.5 times the normal damage, god I love that.
Oh ya and if you get wasted by any kind of creatures thats just sad. Also means your precious armor is gunan get torn up quick
GOD I LOVE THIS! Its about time some one else feels the riflemen's pain lol glad its you all. Go flame up like you do us in PvP and one shot it. Wait you can't lol ha ha ha ha ha ha makes me friggin laugh all day long!! Ha ha ha! So now when you run up on another commando you will one shot each other and I'll stay at 60 m and laugh ha ha ha!
They fixed melee commando weapons (yes, it was BROKEN) so now we're ranged.
Why shouldn't pistols be in on this? Do they not shoot things from far away as well? Carbineers get 1.5x, but why, when a carbine and a flamethrower are shaped almost identically.
Get that flamer out of your hand, put a carbine in it, and boom, they can't hit you as hard
Well I already have field tactics 4 and hit more than I miss with gernades (only sightly) so thats not a big deal. But there is NO possible way that gernades can take up the slack of this added dmg being delt to us.
With the way things are we can not survive even ONE hit by a high lvl mob. Every mob is like a Dark Jedi and can slay me in one hit. Even if I'm switching weapons and such there is no way to evoid getting hit at least once. with the flammer equiped.
well water is another factor to consider when fighting someone, if you want to make em nice and toasty, try and avoid fighting there. again its about fighting smart
