It all depends if you prefer PvE or PvP or a little of both...Also you have to take into account that the Dev's are soon removing defense stacking across professions (something I'd like to see prevented as it is a silly, non-thought out, easy fix that will cause more trouble then benefit)...

Currently, for a good PvE template, TKA has some great Defense mods that work well with Commando...plus you get Meditate...this works nice because NPCs currently rarely kite you...

For a good PvP template...Rifleman is proving really nice (also for PvE, but I still like TKA better) to deal with kiters and has nice defense mods...dabble in some Pistoleer as well to increase those defense mods as well...

Garvin, there is a IC on profession mixing and matching that a lot of people are speaking up on removal of defense stacking. Dont have the adress but Im sure you can find it.

I said leave defense stacking, and add accuracy stacking to create balance. in other words ad to the low end of the scale instead of removing the high end of the scale.

Yeah I'm definitly looking for it to go more into pvp. I'm done holo grinding like almost everyone else so im gonna stay commando awhile Which tree's in rifleman should I get? Ive never done anything with it except get master marksman, I was thinking about tka too but same with that I've only gotten UA 4 for commando.

That is a nice idea with the accuracy stacking...

If not that, they should just space out the defense mods to other trees...instead of +40 Melee defense in one tree, move it to +10 over 4 different trees all at lever 3 or 4....make it harder for those trying to create a "god" template by making them have to advance up more then 1 tree per profession...something I've been saying for a long time...lol...

But either idea is very good in my book...Someone with Higher Accuracy should be able to deal with someone with High Defenses...the advantage should fall on who has higher...

I'm Master Commando with Teras Kasi Meditative Techniques 4 and a bit of Scout exploration and Medic first aid.

249/250 points used.

I'm working on pistoleer right now. The defensive stats are kinda nice, and it lets you deal some decent damage with the launcher pistol too.

One variant is Commando/Weaponsmith...

Get experimentation and firearms. And make lots of cannons. That will make the heavy support tree something more than just a loss of skillpoints (or credits, lots of them) for those of you that are Masters, and you will be able to always do something powerful at a longer range than 16 metres.

Just keep in mind that, after the next publish, defensive mods from different professions will not stack.

I compliment with Master pistoleer, Smuggler Pistol 3. Pistoleer has some nice defense modes (like KD) and you can rip through turrets/AT-ST's with stopping shot using your launcher pistol. Also having the Lowblow and Panic Shot from Smuggler help keep the demons at bay (not to mention the Melee Damage Mitigation 1).
