Hi all,
so we are in star wars galaxies, a game based on the universe of Star Wars (expanded), i just state that because it seems that some people just don't seem to know it.
We have a class named commando, and what are commandos in Star Wars ?
You have 2 big examples : 1 the storm commando
2 the rebel specforce
The storm commando is a special storm wearing black scout armor that gives huge sneak advantages (it absorbs light, and it prevents the footsteps noises), it's a light armor that doesn't hinder one's movement. They are lightly armed and know some special MA moves.
The rebel specforce comes into different versions, there's the regular specforce, the scout, the demo, etc etc, they are like any modern warfare spec ops team.
Now what we can see is that commandos in SW universe, like in most universes, are forces specialised in sneaky and quick actions, who oper without a noise and behind the enemy lines using very specific weapons, they are also experts in sabotage and hi jacking.
The commando we have here is totally different thing, more like a trooper or whatever, it'scloser to the basic stormtrooper than to the commando, so either we change the name of the class or we really change it so it's actually a commando.
My idea about a commando class would be a typical "sneak" class like you can see in most mmo's (even planetside), someone who has the ability to hide, to move quietly and to use specific weapons to silence the enemy, or destroy structures (like turrets for example), it'd require a tree with sneak skill and prolly some melee weapons like garott or vibro combat knife that would be used for "backstab" attacks, keep the heavy weapons tree (considering it'll work one day), add a commando weapons tree (for ranged weapons, usually carbines or pistols), and finally a tree with the resists and the terrain negociation/burst run skills (because ya know commandos kinda oper anywhere, so seeing a commando taking 20 hours to climb a hill is definitely out of any logical).
Dunno what u'll think bout it all, but it'd be more like a commando to me.

"what is your definition of a commando ?"
thats what we where asking since the beginning of the game.
we never got an answer to this: perhaps the devs dont know what they want the commando to be...
