well since i lost connection after me and a group in were demolished by a friggin lesser dewback (we'll get him next time boys!) i never got a chance to ask a quick question to the group.
so, here it goes. its regarding the mix-matching of specials and such as i understand it?
say if i am a master commando and a master rifleman. i pull out my FT and use Advanced head hit. now, would the FT do the head hit special along with its DoT and AoE? is that how it works?
am i close? am i horribly, horribly wrong?
Yes and no...
1) Any ranged special gained from any ranged profession fed through the FT will have a chance to add a DoT and an AOE effect (DoTs are not added everytime like it is currently in game, sometimes the DoT doesn't add until the second shot for example).
2) There is no more targetting special areas like the "head"...we just target one bar now, the health bar. So any rifleman special (or any special for that matter) is not going to a "head" hit"...
You are on the right track...think of our FT as a "special" enhancer...it takes any special NOW out there (all specials have changed and there are no "advanced" versions of shot...nothing advances as the idea is that we'll want to use the same specials we get at Novice along with the ones we have at Master). The FT takes these specials, increases their damage output, then adds a DoT with AOE.
PS...along those lines of new Weapon Effects...our Rocket Launcher is also an "special" enhancer...it takes any special out there and adds to it a chance to "knockdown" the target. It's weaker as a Low Level cert, but it's pretty sweet that we now have a KD...

awsome, thanks man. and there is a special in 4000 rifleman that is called advnaced head hit...it was the only one had on the top of my head, it was jsut an example. im going pistoleer/BH/smug/MC baby!
I was looking at the new BH trees for example. Eye Shot and Improved Eye Shot are both in the LLC Tree. From the looks of it, they're keeping the idea that once you gain an improved versions of a special, it replaces the lower version, being superior in every possible way. Much as attacks like Master Power Attack, Flurry or Rapid Shot in KotOR.
