Thread: AOE Specails?

Hi all,
I'm working my way through the Commando profession and I've come up with a couple of questions. First, I'm about to get my first AOE attack: Flame Cone 1... And so I wonder, are the AOE's we have (both in our profession and in the game in general) worth anything? I used to play some other MMORPGs where AOEs were availableand never used because they were no more powerful than a normal attack, but in general they spread that damage over a greater number of targets. Is that the case here, or are the AOE attacks more powerful so that they would actually be worth using if you're surrounded.
Thenext question that I have has to do with the DOT attacks that Heavy Weapons get. I already know there is "Fire" for the flame thrower, but do the other weapons heavy weapons (acid rifle and lightning cannon) have this also?
Last question: I've been asking Commando friends of mine for a while now if the expendable weapons that we have, grenades and rocket launchers for example, are any good. Unfortunatly I've gotten a lot of mixed answers about this: Some think that they are what clinches this profession in battle, others say they are worthless, and others say they are ok, but that they've never really seen much reason to use them because they slow down battle too much. So of course that leaves me back at square one with no idea whether any of them are worth the effort.

1) If you're surrounded and want to take out your enemies, use flamecone. It works well at killing multiple targets, it also applies the DoT.
2)Only DoT we have (in current system) is from the flamer.
3)consumables are fun, but expensive. not really worth it except to play around with.
2+3 will change soon in the CU
not sure how 1 will work post-CU

Okies, firstly. All what you know on live is gonna change in 4 weeks with the combat upgrade.
AOE Attacks: As i know currently /flamecone1 and /flamecone2 are bugged and dont work as they were intended. They are generally weaker than /flameSingle1 and /flamesingle2 because they are area attacks. SO i wouldn't rely solely on there use.
Only the FT (Flamer Thower) has DoT of all our weapons. This will change with the CU though.
Consumable weapons, I dont use at all. With the CU, we have no consumable weapons. They have all become real weapons, and nearly all have AOE and states.
Also today we got new weapon certs too at Master lvl. Plasma Flame Thrower and Proton Rifle.
I have 1 tip, get yourself on to the Test Centre TC-5 and have a big blast of all our new weapons and armor
