With all the delays and all the push backs we have gotten a system that looks like in mechanics very similiar to EQ2. Many people have been upset and though I see the similiarities between the two I actually like the changes. I have been very critical of SOE for the time taken to get this CU. Though I like it I find myself upset again as I believe they weren't working on it as they said but instead just used the EQ system and made some changes to match a SWG skin.
If you open cntrl+h and do search you will find all knowledgebase articles are EQ topics and articles. Test it yourself but do asearch on "sword" and then just for kicks to a search for "inspiration."
some results: "What are my goals for EQII"
"What is a dark elf"
When it comes down to the bottomline if the system works I'm for it no matter where it came from but again I find that the dev teams have not been straight forward with us and find this most dissapointing.

100% agreed. The community, the blue glowies, the correspondents, the alpha/sandbox testers, ALL of them were misled. This is about leveraging the product to minimize costs by defraying the systems investment (EQ2) over as large a player base as possible.
The upside to this is that things may be fixed faster in the future since SOE will be able to grab people from a larger set of resources. But I'm just as disappointed in the deceptive communication practices used. They were not unintentional. They were calculated. And they may have worked.
I still like what I am seeing SO FAR with the revamp, and will look forward to actual combat testing the elite professions next to see if the wait has been worth it.

I brought this issue up over in the CU forum and someone reminded me of a fact...back when this game first launched, EQ info was coming up in the knowledgebase...over-time, people had made jokes and teased the devs when they found EQ info...it's not a new thing and isn't necessarily caused by any of the CU changes...
If you think about it...SWG shares the same chat and mail system as EQ (which why you can chat and mail EQ players from within SWG), so a knowledgebase accidental connection is pretty understandable...

not to mention a lot of the swg code base from what I could see was implemented in eq2. Albeit in an altered manner.
True they changed some of it around for the setting and altered it to suit a diffrent rules set...but a good chunk fo the things in game seemed to be pulled from swg
