As it functions right now, the con system actively affects PvE:
- Damge output of your enemy
- Defenses of your enemy
- XP payout from your enemy
- Mission level on terms
(discussed in more detail here)
Of all the changes made, the implementation of the top 3 points I describe is a true gamebreaker for me. I either like or can learn to live with all other changes made.
How do you guys feel about these changes in the effect of con?

Been tested by some, who notice no effect of the con system in PVP.

Well, that's good then, I'll edit the main post.
How about in PvE? Do you guys prefer the system or not?

If it doesn't effect pvp, I'll be alright with it... mainly anyway. There are some things that need to change though. Like changing weapons ect.
I plan to test this more in-depth to see if level does in-fact affect pvp.

I prefer it in principle... BUT
If you're a master ranged combatant trying to level up a newbie brawler class for the first time, it's virtually impossible. You could only get level 100 (or whatever it would be) missions while having the comabt skills of a level 1. Itis impossible to advance. Vice versa is also true if you're a brawler trying to level up marksman.
They need to set it up so that brawler and marksman use seperate levels... or something. Maybe give an option to select which skill (and therefor level) that you are? Ie. a menu where you can select to have your level be your:
- Ranged Level
- Melee Level
- Combined Level
For this system to work, this is REALLY needed.

Once we hit the next testing phase we may find this already fixed. Up till now SOE has been doing a brilliant job on neutralizing or fixing player concerns with the CU; I don't see why it would stop now.

Heh, effectively applying an honor system to XP gain?
I don't how well that would work.
My concerns with it arise from the way it creates an artificial difficulty. I don't understand why I shouldn't be able to at least survive an encounter with something just because I don't have enough skill boxes. If somethign is supposed to be difficult, make it difficult all the time, not conditionally hard depending on how many skill boxes I have.
I guess it's the way it trivializes what you do in favor of what level the system considers to be. What is the point of playing a game where where, no matter what I do, the outcome is guaranteed to be the same?
I understand that there are certain things that simply should not be possible for a single player, and I can respect that, but it is my feeling that it should be so by virtue of its nature within the game system, not by virtue of an artificial wall that says "sorry, you lose."
I'm not asking for an I win button, I LOVE the fact that I actually die (quite often) in PvE now - I just wish the PvE mobs I have to fight against didn't have one either

The server is down, and this is one of the most controversial changes, so I hope you are correct Hadriaan!

Trust me I do too. After being so very mad at SOE and leaving SWG twice since I started, I have completely turned around after seeing the great communications between SOE and the community lately. Helios alone has definitely helped us out tons in the way of teaching us how the things we are concerned about will work. Perhaps we'll see Helios swing by in a bit and comment on this issue?
