Thread: are the commando going to get a carbine at all?

we now have a pistol, VK's, and a rifle. all we need is a carbine. and why is the BH getting another carbine? there have the dart carbine.

So you want to take the best guns from all the profs, is that it?
***Bleh, I'm bitter, I have watched all the guns I have been looking forward to slowly but surely delegated to other profs but their root ones.

We'll trade you the proton rifle and the massasi knucklers if we could have a weapon that is designed, based off of, and intended by Lucas arts to be a commando weapon. (Yes I am referring to the Proton Carbine)

Highly doubt that, maybe you are thinking of the underslung carbine?
...even though on that one as well there was never an word that the guns were being developed for a certain prof.
So, you would trade a rifle and a knuckler, the massi at least makes sense, to make it so carbineers have even less of a chance to use the wep?

While I would love to see us get a Carbine, the big question is "Why should Commandos get specfically a Carbine?"
Back when we required Master Marksman, we required training in all ranged weapon types...now we only require basic Marksman training (a non-specific tree of Marksman)...because of this, while I love the idea that we get a variety of weapon types, it's hard for us to make an arguement that we NEED a carbine (and the Devs tend to go off of NEED first..."want" comes later)...
I feel like we NEED an Assult Rifle (proton rifle) as a weapon with no AOE. We obviously NEED our Heavy Weapons. And we NEED a melee weapon to utilize our melee abilities...but do we NEED a Carbine?
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want us to get the Underslung Carbine eventually (when it is added to the game), but the fact that we've already received so many cool things, I want something even more now...I want to see Carbineers get some MUCH NEEDED love...not just for them (not being totally selfless here), but to also make Carbineer more inviting to Commandos for dabbling (again, I want our choices to be as difficult as possible...I want EVERYTHING to tempt us in our template building)...Carbineers are definitely due some new toy love...
I was surprised by the Proton Carbine not going to them, but I'm happy also to see BH's get it...but really, what ever new really cool Carbine that is still out there really should go to Carbineers...if there is something cool left over that has a "heavy" look and feel to it, maybe we could get that (still holding out for the Underslung Carbine...and I'm willing to wait for that one

)...The only current beneficial reason I see for Commandos getting a Carbine (needing one) is to make Commando more inviting for Carbineers who are looking our direction...It would be nice, since we are a "weapon warehouse", to have a Heavy Carbine available to welcome them to Commando (since we are partially meant to take other combat professions and make them "heavy").

Once again, Garvin pretty much hits the mark here with his rational thinking. While i'd love to have some crazy toys to play with, carbineers and pistoleers need to get some new weapons. We as a commando community need to be thankful for what we have gotten and just keep a watchful eye on how the rest of it develops. Like i've said before, the only change i'd like to see is us switching out massassi for blast knuckles, which just makes sense. We don't want to make the other professions mad though by seeming like we want our commando paws on everything

(Heck, rifleman has gotten 3-4 new weapons and they still want the proton rifle. That discussion is for another place though
