I'm not even a Commando and I'm happy for you guys! You had it bad for the first 2 months, and now, things are looking up. You should testify to all of your SWG buddies, including the naysayers that flood the forums everyday with BS like "this is it, cancel my account, goodBYE SWG", that the devs ARE working on the issues in this game. Patience is all it takes.

We can debate all day that "yes, the game should've been released without these bugs" or "no, many games are released with bugs and need to be tweaked over time", but the bottom line is that Commando was seriously FUBAR upon SWG's release, and now it's been given a major facelift. Again, patience is the key. Congrats gang.

Now, the crybabies: Nerf-screamers can you all please **edit**?!?!? You guys need an enema, seriously! Now you want to see this class nerfed after its FIRST DAY OF BEING FIXED??? I'm not even a commando and you complainers make me sick:

You bitched about pets being too strong, so the CH's got nerfed last month. The result? The devs wound up unnerfing a few nerfs b/c they decided that it was a little too harsh on certain elements ofCH (such as forcing folks to purchase med packs/vitality packs to heal pets, etc...) But WAIT!!! There's more!!

Then you bitched about the At-St's killing rebels in 2-3 shots. The result? Nerf-whining rebels can now get a commando friend and have a fair chance at knocking off an At-St.Happy now?? (of course you're not...). As for the Imps, well, we're not really complaining about AT-ST's anyway...our higher-ups can afford for us to have cooler toys than you poor rebels!! But, that's another story for another post. Back to the whiners...

You're now bitching about Commandoes being unstoppable--you are sooooo wrong! Read through the posts and learn a bit about the heavy weapons, their ranges, and their weaknesses (delays) before you start typing away! Don't just say "I got hit for 2k damage, someone nerf this class", b/c I'll go as far to guess that you got shot up b/c of your lack of strategy, not b/c their overpoweful weapons.

Case in point: I actually killed an Overt rebel Novice commando in the Starport today. (I'm a novice carbineer/CH/medic) He shot one of my pets for about 2k damage, which made me pee my pants, but I used my charge shot for a KD, and my other pet plus my 3 Imp pets (NOT At-St's...) ate him up. Now I'll admit, had I not taken him by surprise or had a small militia of pets, I probably would have died--rather quickly too--but I wouldn't have been crazy enough to fight him without help anyway--and THAT'S the whole point!!

To win in combat, the key factor is not always about which one solider has the brute force and the biggest, baddest weapons, but about team work and S-T-R-A-T-E-G-Y.

In SWG combat, not everyone is of equal power! That's the way it is; just get over it!If you can do a few trickswith a powerful pistol and another guy has a bazooka and a flamethrower, do you, the pistol owner, really expect to win? If you can get the jump on him, maybe, but if it's just weapon vs weapon with no surprises we're talking about, you're TOAST!! A group of pistol-wielding fighers, however, can overwhelm one commando. There's strength in numbers.

Think of it like this, if you both were up against an armored tank in RL,what would do more damage:a pistol...or a bazooka! It would take a LOT of pistols to do the damage of that bazooka blast. This is why commandoes are so strong (and deservedly so).

In closing, some quick battle tips for those nerf-whining about Commandoes:

1.) Shoot these guys from a distance! If commandoes have extremely high damage mostly at a shorter range, and good damage but shady accuracy from a longer range, put 2 and 2 together and SHOOT from a distance, then run out of his/her range!!! The delay time between their special shots should compensate you the time to haul butt and get in your next shot.

2.) If you don't have faction or other pets to assist you, then smile more--make more buddies to team with you and fight with you in combat. Lay down your ego, and take the word "solo" out of your vocabulary when it comes to fighting these guys. I tried it once--about amonth ago, before this patch--and I learned my lesson quickly! You are not RAMBO--they are much closer to it than you are! You'd stand abetter chance if you keep that in mind and get a buddy or faction pet.

3.) Know your enemy! Study up on the Commando class before you cry like a5 year old. See their strengths and weaknesses. Start with this link:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=commando&message.id=15272

Then, study up on your own profession's strengths and weaknesses. If you can target a player's action pool, then go for it, and knock off his/her ability to hit you with those 2k specials. Commandoes, like BH's, don't have many skill pts to juggle around once they master their craft, so it's unlikely they all have exploration IV; if you do, you should be able to fly up a mountain or hill and pick him off while he's trying to get you back within range. Get some armor if you have to as well.

Heavy weaponry is REALLY strong, but it's doesnt make Commandoes untouchable, not in the way that KD spamming made soooooo many people untouchable in PVP before this patch. Because of exploiters, that needed to be nerfed ("fixed" isa more appropriate term), and I'm personally still undecided as to whether mind poision needs it, but the entire Commando class??? No, it doesn't need a nerfing.Folks just need to play smarter, not harder.

Ok, /rantoff. You can /resumewhining.

Again, congrats commandoes. See you on the battlefield--staying FAR away from you...

Well said, Shellshock, well said.

I want to point to all the whining riflemen/carbineers/pistoleers that ALL of you guys have pool targetting shots. You can shoot 600-1500 damage shots directly on health, or action, or mind, while commandos don't have that. Their shots go all over the pools. Plus, they're slow as mentioned, and still miss awful lot at longer ranges.

Get over the nerf screaming, **edit** kids...class that was completely broken for months, you guys scream nerf 2 hours after it's fixed? Get real.

A couple other items to digest before screaming nerf the Commandos.

First we get no defense mods which should makeusthe supreme Damage weildersbecuase we getno defenses. That isour achilles heel. All the other elite classes have defenses, counterattacks etc. We really get none.

Our weapons are really slow and the true heavy weapons get no specials. We only have specials with Flamethrowers and Acid Rifles that have to be used at extremely close distances (ie within 20m of the target).

We miss a lot, plain and simple. Even with working up most of the trees I miss 2 or 3 shots out of 5.

So quit whining. If your riflesor pistols missed that much you guys would have a heart attack.

As a "newly-fixed" commando, I agree with this post. I am not a god now by any stretch of the imagination. I was incapped at least three times last night after getting my Flamethrower, and the only reason I didn't die was because the nice rebels decided to not DB me, which they usually do 4 out of 5 times. in the 64 range i missed 2 out of 5 times. I missed 9 out of ten times on mid range, and 1 out of four misses on short range(wherein they were pummeling me for an ungodly amount. I am a smuggler commando, which allows me the use of Feign Death and self-made spices, and the extra hp of neutron pixie was the only reason I didn't get incapped more. I easily lost most if not all of my regular hams during some fights and had to spend alot of downtime afterward getting my bars back up while puking.

My best hit was for 4435, using flame single 1. It was a female Kaadu, and way overkill in my opinion. my best hit on a rebel was for 2292, and he did a great deal of damage to me directly after(He may have been one of my incaps). The main difference i see in the change is not that I'm doing uber damage to any mob I see. i still have to be careful or I incur death rather fast. The difference I see is that I am finally able to go toe to toe with mobs other people who have put as much effort as i have were killing weeks ago. Two days ago a mauler was yellow, mauler lords and masters were red, most rebels were red or yellow. Now I am seeing the blue mobs and white mobs, and occasional yellow and red that bounty hunters were seeing weeks ago.

I hated doing large scale groups and hearing some guy laugh about how it weas an easy 2-4k exp per kill and my contributions netted me 50-1k exp per kill. I felt completely useless until now.

You may be right. Some people may think they are gods now. Some people may get pvp commando damage nerfed. I for one wouldn't mind seeing a damage cap placed on different types of damage you can do to a player. PvP should never be simple as to the outcome by "who fired first." But as far as PvE goes, I don't feel like there's nothing I can't do, becauseI can certainly lie on the ground incapped and be subject to death blows, just like before.
