Thread: Flamethrower Nerf -IF-
If we have to take a NERF at flamethrower what do you think would be acceptable.
The replys should be in the form: If you like an idea already mention name the posters.
If you have your own idea, Post it.
If you don't want a nerf or think no current Idea is acceptable then post so. Please don't "Flame" other posters. ![]()
Ill start out by throwing my idea on the board:
The only way I would be hapy with a Flamethrower Nerf would be a change to the DoT. I would propose the Damage from the DoT also be modified by the targets resistence to flame.
Such that a Dot of damage 3000 to a gnort with 50% Heat resistence would result in a 1500 health damage to the gnort.
I thank in advance all people who participate.
Dude. Where have you been? That is a problem with ALL dots, not just the flamethrower. If a BH shoots a 100% acid resist mob with bleed shot the shot itself does no dmg but the bleed is at full 100% strenght.
Maybe if you would have beenactive in this forumover the last few months you would know this is not a commando problem and a general combat problem. You need to quit throwing the word NERF around in the commando forumesspically when the problem you have dosen't have anything to do with commandos.
Bleeding isn't really something that can be effected by defence hence it is designed to bypass it, i mean an open wound simply drains blood. It's the difference between someone shooting you in the stomach for a slow death from internalbleedingor in the head which kills you. On the whole the bleeding shots are designed to open wounds not cause direct damage.
Frankly though if something is 100% resistant to the damage the blaster caused then it shouldn't bleed since there is no way to cause a wound in the first place. Fire in the other case though cannot open wounds and by it's very nature is little more than additional heat damage caused by still being on fire. Thus it should be effected by heat resistance. Besides, commando's already have three seperate DOTS from the marksman tree so why do they need another one?

This statement is incorrect. Combustion does far more than just emit heat. It changes the chemical composition of the object being burned.
The whole DoT system doesn't make much sense if you think about it. Seperate HealthShot1s don't stack. Why not? Wouldn't having two holes in your stomach make you bleed faster than just one?
If the Devs make heat resistance affect burns, I'm fine with that so long as resistance affects all DoTs.
