Thread: Redefinition: Reb=Commando Imp=Storm Trooper
Ok, ok i know.....but hear me out. This is just a crazy idea I want to float to just get a converstation going. I am just trying to think out of the box a bit.
Oneissue brings this subject up in my mind:
The complaints ( justifiably so) that not enough players are going to the side of the Empire for the sake of the GCW and realism. In this context does it not make sense that since the commando is the professional soldier that the "commando" class of the Empire should be Storm Troopers?
Would it not be better to redefine the commando or professional soldier of the Empire this way . Allow Commandos who fight on the side of the Empire to have the armor and the weapons of the Empire? I mean they can already have AT-ST's why not continue with the RPing in this regard?
Do you think this may be an attraction for more players to go to the Dark Side?
Ok... /Flame on
Interesting idea...
Really, what the hell is a non-military "commando"? I understand a pistoleer is great with a pistol. Han Solo. Rifleman is good with a rifle. Can be learned through experience. But I associate commandos with military training. With organization. Did I drop out of the Empire at some point after they trained me? Commandoing, unlike almost every other combat profession in the game, seems part and parcel of a military force. Maybe force a player to declare Overt Imp or Reb at novice commando, and don't allow covert status. Provide military gear for reduced FP's or something.
Will they ever do it?
No
