Thread: Finally Have An AT-ST What Can I Do With It And What Is Their Future?
I've been PvE my whole SWG life. Isolo almost all the time.I've never usedan AT-STand I've never seen them used much, except in one PvP fight that I was watching. They looked awesome.
I've heard for months that they are gonna be nerfed and that players are gonna be restricted to just pulling one out at a time, instead of 3 at a time. However, they've been talking about this since August and neither has happened.
Is it too late to nerf 'em now that so many have them and so many will quit the game if they are nerfed? Can commandos really kill 'em with one shot? How do you defend them against that?
Also, where do people hunt for holocrons and for other goodies? Although I've played the game since Day 1, this is one area of it (AT-ST) I know nothing about.
Any advice would be helpful and thanks!

no commandos can not kill a atst in one hit but if you run into a smart one he can and will kill it in 30 secs by staking flame dots on it but you proply will get to db him and then your toy will die the easy answer to this is just kill the commando before he gets in 16 m
he will try to use a RL on it but there junk so you dont have to worry
but if a commando/pistoler comes along with a good launcher pistol they can use fanshot/stopshot so fast your atst will die in10-15 secs from 64m away the launcher pistol is DT_blast dam some thing your atst is very vaunrabel to
but i dont think theres many pistoler masters that dabel into commando just for the LP so your lucky
also another thing you need to wach out for is a swords men there power hamer is DT_blast dam and they can kill a atst in 3 hits useing speciels
to avoid this just keep your eye open and kill him bfore he gets in 10m
so if your alert you dont have to worry to much about commandos only thing you really have to wory about is a master pistoler novic commando
If these things can get killed that easy, what is the big deal about them? Aren't they supposed to rule PvP?
Sounds like since they are not uber in PvP, they are used in PvE, where they are uber.
Is that what everyone got angry about?
hum strang max dam iv ever ben abel to get out of a RL is 8k and thats random pool dam and usly hits around 3-5k
were using last dich laying down on the ground i can shot 3 times befor it starts to attack me for around 3-4k dam at haf the ham cost and haf the delay
and about evry one crying nerf on atsts that was longe ago when no one could kill them
but now no reb likes them becous imps use them to harvest mony and tissue using a atst to kill a krayt is way to comen
we used to hunt atsts at kraytgrave yared ensted of krayts ifyou get my drifed
Short version of what "everyone" is angry about with AT-ST's. Only one side get's them, Rebels and Neutrals don't, and they can be used in normal PvE, with no skill points burned to use them.
While I personally believe none of the faction pet's should be usable outside of PvP (not relegated to just battlefields, but they simply would not attack anything but other players, and be usable in all PvP) they are usuable just like any pet in the game is, the only restriction being that you must be Overt to call it. You will find, that even on planets like Dantooine, there are Faction Recruiters available to change to Overt as needed to get access to your Faction pets.
As to using the AT-ST in PvE, they are simply superb, being as good or superior to anything a Master CH could bring to the field. The downside to using one, is that you may run across a Rebel Commando (Neutrals can't do anything to it) that decides you shouldn't get to keep your pet, and all they have to do to insure it's death, is wait for you to use it on something, rush in, and stack a few flame DOT's on it, and it's toast. You may well kill off the Rebel, but your expensive FP pet will be destroyed. Best bet, is to not take the pet out anywhere PvE hunting, where your likely to run into competetion for what your hunting, and loose it.
Vorgus (Yes, I'm a covert Rebel, but my facts are still accurate here)
I have a covert reb character, too, it's my main one. It's also a MCH. Wanted to try to an imp character to see what it was like and see what all the AT-ST fuss is about. I see this from both sides.
What it's starting to look like to meis that the whole AT-ST thing is turned on its head.AT-STs are supposed to be for PvP, but imps are afraid to pull 'em out and use them for PvP because apparently, they can now be killed without too much difficulty.
So, instead, they are used for PvE, which is NOT what they were designed for. Since they really aren't designed to do PvE, folks get mad when they kill krayt dragons and stuff like that. (I don't know if they can kill 'em, btw, but that's what I've been told.)
Since you can't get rid of them becauseAT-STs arethe equalizer for outnumbered imps, the logical solution is to:
1. Give them vitality (repairability) like pets, so they will be used more for what they were designed for - PvP, not PvE. Imps won't risk losing them if you don't.
2. Allow you to pull out three AT-STs if you are covert and doing PvP, but only one if you are doing PvE, to equate more with MCHs that can only pull one big pet out, like a rancor. This will encourage more PvP, while still giving a little edge to imps, who need it since they are outnumbered.
BTW, I'd still like to know how to use these things, lol. No one has really spelled out where to go, how to attack, retreat with them, etc.
Basically, ATSTs have been reduced to PvE shields, about the same caliberas a Rancor. Their damage output is so-so (we commandos do WAY more damage than them) but the ATSTcan take a beatin like red headed stepp child!
ATSTs are not for PvP anymore. They are now work horses for earning fp and credits (and very good at it).
Keep them out of PvP at all costs.
In fact, dont even have them out unless they are in a "safe" area (if there is such a thing).
The best place to use your atst is for mission out of the Imp outpost on Dantooine. It is relatively safe there, with Overt Imps and NPCs aplenty.
At the Imp outpost, there is a mission term where you can do creature missions (up to 23k) or faction missions worth 8k and 150+ faction points.
Dont get me wrong, the ATST is GREAT for proving blocking cover for a Commando who is not a CH. Used properly, the Hostiles will never get to melee range while u are flaming them.
Even if you are a CH, ATSTs are great for getting high level missions (99 with 1 ATST, 135 with 2).Personally, If I had a graul mauler I would ONLY use my ATST at the mission term, then hide it away in the safety of my datapad...letting the immortal graul act as my shield.
It is sad that we gotta hide our ATSTs and protect them from other players. But trust me, I know ALOT of players who have lost theirs because they used it in PVE or were sloppy. I know some players who lost multiple.
Oh yeah, never never never use ATST while hunting krayts in the canyon. I know a couple of players who lost their ATST to reb players while hunting there.
Even after the rebs agreed to a cease fire.
But who can blame them, a player ATST is such a tempting target.

Yeah I used to have an at-st. It was the coolest for spawning high lvl missions and killing strong stuff. Sadly, I brought it to the Krayt Canyon one day, where it was killed. Motto: hunt Krayts with my legion of of Graul Maulers. Anyway, yeah, the Imp Outpost on Dant can spawn 40k missions with an At-st grouped.

Those high-level kunga missions on Dantooine were nerfed. Try Lok instead.
