Thread: To all you master TKA/Commando's
How many skill points do you have after you master both?
And is that a fun combo of skills?
How many skill points do you have left after mastering both?
Andis that a fun combo of skills?
According to my template (I'm going for the Master TKA / Master Commando) you do indeed have 18 skill points left...
I'm taking 15 of those and putting it into Novice Medic so I can use some good stim b's....the last 3 I'm not so sure about...maybe Diagnositc 1....
If you go this route, make sure you get a good mount because without scouting it will be a tough run anywhere.
I'm currently sitting at 2|0|2|3 for TKA and the Melee/Ranged Defenses are well worth it...
I have also considered giving up one tree of TKA (not sure which) and getting the Special Abilities tree of Pistoleer just to get a bit more Melee Defense (like around +30 more)...
I replied more in depth to your post in the Commando Forum, but I'll also post here in case anyone is curious...I'm on my way to TKA Master (2|0|2|3...already a Master Commando)...
You'll have 18 skill points left...I plan on using 15 skill pts for Novice Medic (to use Stim B's in battle) and maybe 2 pts for Diag 1.
I have considered dropping one tree of TKA (but not sure which, so for now put this in the back of my mind) to get some of the Special Abilities tree of Pistoleer...that will lead to about +30 more Melee Defense...but I think they're is plenty with TKA Master....
Make sure you get yourself a good mount if you go this direction, otherwise it'll be a tough run anywhere you go (without any scouting)...
Hope this helps...
PS...check out http://swg.allakhazam.com/. You can create and save a template for your character and figure out how to wisely spend you skill pts.
With the extra 18 points I have gone into smuggler for low-blow and feign death. Feign + Flame = win; Low-Blow is perfect for catching up to kiters and applying the fire/fists.
The suggestions for novice medic are also very good as we tend to take a LOT of damage.

If you are pondering the medic, ask yourself what type of character will your final template produce...a Fast & Heavy Damage Dealer...or a Slow Heavy Damage Dealer High on Defense....
If you place your remaining 18 skill points in other combat professions, go for speed + ranged damagelike in Pistoleer or Rifleman...if you go this route you should be able to do enough damage from a distance, that when the opponent get's close enough, you should be able to take them down before your health is depleted...but you will need to probably rest inbetween each big battle...
If you take your remaining 18 skill points and put them into medic, your battles will be mainly closer up and you will take more damage over all since the battle will probably last longer...BUT, you will be able to heal some of that damage and there for will have to rest less time inbetween each big battle.
If you are more interested in PvP then PvE, I'd probably go the first option...you'll want to be able to deal with kiters since TKA and Commandos can be vunerable to distance weaknesses...you'll need something that can do specials at a distance in case you are in that situation.
If you are more interested in PvE, I have yet to find a critter thatI couldn't get close enough to, so I prefer getting myself some medic for stim B's...Less down time for me to healand I can get right back into the next fight....
Either way, get yourself a good set of Ubese (at least 70% kinetic) and a good set of Composite...use the ubese armor for melee fighting and use the composite for everything else pretty much...
Easy answer, yes...Wisest answer, depends on what your fighting...
If you are fighting up close against a melee NPC, use Ubese armor...I haven't found a reasonably priced set of Composite that offers 70% Kinetic or higher...Using this type of armor, not only will the NPC miss often, but when they do hit, 70% of the damage will be absorbed...
When fighting a NPC that can either fight ranged or melee (or a group of ranged & melee fighters mixed) I say go with Composite...Your Kinetic protection will be lower (mine's like 55% to 60% in most pieces) but those stats will be across the board (blast and such protection)...so over all they will still do much less damage...
When fighting critters out in the wilds I generally use Ubese because they generally fight Melee style. But when I fight a group of Imperials, or Maulers, etc...a group that can fight mixed, I use my composite...
And I'll let you in on a well kept secret...get yourself a set of Krayt Segment Composite...some folks will say that the protection is much better and it's will cost you more....but what they don't see is the encum is WAY less...and my luck has been that they usually yield an encum slice....I wear a full set of Krayt Composite (55% to 60% protection) withno buffs and my HAM stats are still excellent while it is fully equiped...My Chest plate alone has a HAM of 125, 20, 20 (42% encum slice) and i was fortunate to get it just before the Dev's nerfed the bio factor...it also has a +4 Melee Defense and 2 empty sockets...Only wish I could have bought the matching helmet as well...
yes its a good thing to have and for the ham on tk take some havens breath ( a drink +450-600str +450-600 quick +450-600 foc) and if you get the good stuf 600+ even with comp armor on it cost like no ham at all!!!!!!
and 2 rysch (a brad) are just as good and you can eat 5 of them at a time
when i play i go around high on thees foods all day never haveing to wory about ham ![]()
jeez how don't know how you people live without terrain negotiation, I would cry if I went to dath lol ![]()
