I have seen what amazing Damage we can do, but I am having some trouble finding a good Solo template. Right now I am Master Smuggler / Master Commando, and I am guess that the best thing would be to pick up either TKM or Medic to support, but what about just as Commando? What is the easiest way to kill the big MOBs? FS Caves, Dark troopers etc?

Thanks

If you define solo as without pets then proceed to #3

otherwise....

If you can stay alive long enough, your flamer can kill anything.

To be a good solo you need a great tank to block for you --either a pet, a faction pet or yourself.

Here are some options:

1) Creature Handler - good variety of pets that dont die. However, cant be master of both

2) Imperial with ATST - you'll do more damage than the ATST, but it will take a huge amount of punishment and blocks as well as any pet (until a reb commando comes along).

3) Tank yourself with some melee skills - they new patch has greatly increased the power of the swordsman, fencer, and pikeman. These are all great professions to dual as a commando. However, the only one you will be able to hold a dual master to TKA.

RECAP: the key to soloing is being able to use your flamer. To use your flamer without getting incapped due to the 2.5 damage you need some sort of "Tank." Get a tank, and youll prosper.

I'm a TKA (close to master) and commando 0,4,4,2. I haven't used a pet since they put the new melee defenses in. It's simply not needed once you get a good set of armor. If you're going against melee mobs use a set of 70% kinetic ubese armor. If you're fighting ranged npc's then use whatever set of composite you can wear. Don't stick to one type of armor purely b/c it's convenient, each situation can vary.

If you're not already there, max out the flame thrower line the first. It's most powerful and a lot of fun.

Always start off engagements with a flamesingle2 (1 if you dont have 2 yet). The only exception is when thereis a close group of social creatures/npcs you're about to attack, the cone is a good opener here. And remember that your flame DOT's stack.

During the wait for yoru specials to count down, unequip your flamethrower, go barehanded. This kills the 2.5dmg multiplier until you need it for another special or at least until you're firing back making it worthwhile.

Use intimidate and warcry that you picked up from the brawler skills. They are great (even though intimidate may take a while to stick).

Use the terrain to help you while waiting on the specials cool-down, run up hills, around corners in caves, walls. Just be smart with your surroundings.

Hopefully one or two of those will be helpful to ya.

Another good starting tactic with a close group once you've Mastered Commando - is to use a sliced, power'ed up Proton grenade. Just be sure to watch the range.

talking openers, well i like to open with a shot from my particle beam cannon. if you hit most likely it will be dead or close to it. if you miss whip out the ft and prepare to cone2 as soon as the ensueing mob is in range, as soon as the flame starts unequip the ft and switch to the LP and hit em with healthshot. throw in a warcry somewhere in there to. if they arent dead by now the flame dot will kill them before the warcry wears off.

a fellow commando made a macro with the FT and LP where the FT is only exposed for 2 sec. cutting the chance of getting effected by the 2.5 melee dmg to a minimum.

also always examine what your going to attack before you attack it. knowing what its vulnerable to is the primary key.

if your target is vulnerable to acid, ignore the HAR and use the acid stream launcher. follow it up with a flame2.

alot of commandos complain about speed, we are very fast if the weapons are used it the right order. also many people say that the FT is our only good weapon, this is not true. use all the weapons, know their strengths and weaknesses. and find a good supplier. most good weaponsmiths are very willing to cut you a deal when you buy crates.

another tip to lower the price you pay on weapons is to help supply your fav weaponsmith with materials. i recentlyGAVE 20 klicknik glands to my MWS.

and if your looking for a good tank you can take up CH, with 1 1 0 0 on ch you can handle a GSP. they make awsome tanks. although eventually you will not need it.

hope this helps

If you have feign death and panic shot you can solo almost anything.

lol Yes Ive been hiding behind pets. Been worrying as I am out of almost every other skill to cut to head toward my TKA/Commando combo about what I'll do without my GSPs when I finally get rid of my borowed CH skills but today I finally went and got a full suit of 72% ubese and used that instead of my composite/ubese mix and was able to drop a nest full of bull torturs without my pets. As said befor it is nice to have composite handy for non-melee opponents so I kept my comp stuff and am assembling a full suit at my house for when the mood strikes me but right now with the 2.5* melee damage modifier, kinetic seems to be the way to go.

LOL, thank god I'm finally weening myself away from pets. It disgusted me that I wasnt self reliant.
