Ok - my fellow commandos - its time to put my 2 cents in, seeing what I have seen since i have been back both in game and in forum. First and foremost, you all may look at my posting and see my name and think fresh commando on the block, this is not the case. I have been an avid commando since day 1 at the launch of SWG, as was my wife (my old commando was a rodian named Malachie and she was a Twilek named Asharra). I was a Master Commando then and will never change. It is a glorious profession and always will be DESPITE all we have endured. Ive had to rebuild a new template due to being screwed by SOE - but its ok - in the end it will be good and i will have a much better template/character.
What I want to say, my brothers and sisters, is that these are truly exciting times to be a commando! Honestly. From what Ive seen in game - I am thrilled to be back burning all of gods creation with my pretty little blow torch. Believe me - Ive seen so many frustrated people in and out of game with all of our current issues - try not being able to play a game you love due to terrible family hardship - you really come to miss the people in the forums and in the game.
With what to expect with the combat revamp - let me give you this perspective - If you are a true commando, and have been in our beloved communtiy, you probably know by now, that anything is going to improve our profession - im not quite sure there is anything left to nerf or take away from us. IMHO, I believe that a commando is one who overcomes and adapts regardless of the hardships. We are still areone of the baddest and most revered professions out there - dont believe me - check out some of these other professions and see how they talk about us - granted, there are always some negative peeps, but i guarantee it is mostly nothing but totally impressed peeps. Sure - a lot of our skills, defenses, weapons, etc are broken or nerfed - then as a commando - you find a way around that obstacle and overcome it. It will make you more of a tactical/strategic opponent on the battlefield.
Theres no reason to sit here and constantly be negative on the brokeness of our profession, As they say in my beloved US ARMY - Aint no use in looking down, there Aint no discharge on the ground! What this means is there is no need to be negative about a profession that probably has nothing but good alterations coming to it from the combat revamp - after all - With so many things that need attention - there has got to be nothing but good things coming our way. Whether its a skills tree for our LP, better defenses, HAR revamps, assault rifles, grenades, FS stuff(still trying to figure that stuff out), or whatever - we are bound to get our much needed attention - so hang in there. Remember - misery loves company, we have a lot of new lads coming into our beloved community, who may not jump in head first like i did - after seeing a ton of negativity. We cant loose these peeps to the stinking BH's or Jedi out there. Remember this - we take care of our own, these people should be absolutely bombarded with replies when submitting NOOB posts with questions on how to level, or similar starting commando posts like that.
So, we are all so incredibly well versed with what is wrong with our profession - lets take a look at our positives for a sec.
1)We got the best friggin correspondant in the forums - I remember when Garvin was working himself up the commando trees himself - so he was not always a commando GOD - he was just persistant in his goals and has attained a position in the commando community for doing nothing but look after us. He is now a "pillar", "staple",or"institution". Call it what you will - when you have numerous other professions popping in here and telling you you have the best correspondant - HOT TIP - that says a ton. Garvin truly is an assett to our community and were lucky to have him - for gods sake, just visit the smuggler board and see its format and condition - it seemed like chaos to me. So thanks to you Garvin - you are well deserved of the respect of our community.
2)The Flamethrower -Now come on - despite some bugs here and there - you have to admit it is the baddest weapon on the server. What other weapon can you hear firing and recoiling from accross the city. The damage is incredicle, the stats and DOTS can be incredible, and they are bound to do nothing but improve. You cant tell me that people arent absolutely happy to see you in a group with that pretty little hate machine.
3)The Launcher Pistol - I quote IVONI "Its our bread and Butter gun" , again this is an awesome weapon that only us commandos can use, that many other people envy, whether silent or out loud, they envy it.
4)Heavy weapons - no one else has these bad ass weapons but us - that makes us unique - and they are only bound to improve.
5)A Commando Forum that is organized, rich in content, focused, goal oriented, and is not chaotic. My god people have you seen some of these other forums. Be thankful. regardless if the Devs dont visit often, who cares. Who do they visit often? And why do we all need this recognition from these devs anyway - we got each other. I have heard a lot of people say "it would just be good to know we are being heard". Well I say thats what Garvin is for. Now if Garvin was an idiot, that would be a totally different story. Garvin has proven himself as trustworthy, hell let ya know what the devs have in store for us in a very timely and accurate matter - what more do you need. Ifyou have a need or concern, pass it to Garvin, you cant tell me he wont get itrelayed and back to you in a timely matter, thats why we love him so. If the Devs pop in, we say hello and go about our merry way. I dont think this community needs to be on a "dev" leash at all times. We are self sufficient, well informed via our correspondent, commandos. Who cares if they ever show up. Our responsibility is to
treat them with respect when they do pop in, give them a kind word and set an example to set us aside from all the other forums. Our forum is honestly much better than any other out there, this is a blessing.
6)Finally, each other - I believe the commando community is a tight knit family, i dont think there is any other profession out there who is quite as tight as us. Just the other day i was out leveling, and 2 other master commandos OFFERED to come help me out after hearing my story with SOE. This is what im talking about. Do you really think a TKA or JEDI would have done that. Hell no! So, relish in the fact that we have this kinda community - not many get it - and it sucks when you dont have it at all. People like Garvin, Cornbredx,Ivoni, and the many other out there are the kind of peeps who make this community what it needs to be.
7)There are many more assetts, I just wanted to name a few
So thats it, my 2 cents, I am extremely excited for the revamp, and the direction our profession is going. Whatever the outcome is, regardless if we get a few of the things or all of the things, it will better our profession as a whole, and that my friends is the important thing.
Hope it wasnt too long, Its just in my opinion needed to be said, being able to view this situation from the perspective of before and now. If you feel the need to flame this, dont bother, it will just negate you and our community, dont even post. Chime in if ya want, I just am very happy to be back in this community again, and its good to be a part of what is to come - we have perservered this far as a whole - we can handle whatever they throw at us - I am confident in this.
Keep up the good fight, and stay positive my friends - these are glorious times, and they will only get better.

Once you become a Commando you never look back. There's other stuff I'd like to try... but they better all come in at under 81SP.

I could not agree more.
Here i have to disagree. Yes, it looks pretty and it does have a dot. BUT have you tried to use one in PVP. Try it some time. Frankly when i PVP and i am holding the flamer, i get asked if i have any useful skills in PVP except slicing a base. So i would not say that my group is too happy to see it in pvp. In PVE the story is a little different , when taking on 300-350k ham stuff, they like the burn. But that is only because most things with that HAM have 90% resist and they arn't doing much damage.
3)The Launcher Pistol - I quote IVONI "Its our bread and Butter gun" , again this is an awesome weapon that only us commandos can use, that many other people envy, whether silent or out loud, they envy it.
If a weapon that we have NO specials is our bread and butter, It only shows the sad state of this profession.
The facts that it is almost useless unless you pick up BH pistols or pistoleer and it has no ap makes it a weapon that i rarely use.
4)Heavy weapons - no one else has these bad ass weapons but us - that makes us unique - and they are only bound to improve.
NO one else wants these weapons. The rocket launcher, super hard to make, and is out damaged by most power hammers and bomb droids.
Acid lauuncher, particle launcher, and lighting cannon lack suffiecent power to be useable in PVE and are too slow to be effective in PVP.
Thanks again for the great compliments...It's really appreciated...but know this, it wouldbe much harder to do this job if I didn't have such a great well oiled community to back me up...I ask for something to be tested, you all get it tested super fast...I ask for opinions, BAM, I got more then I can keep up with...
I also love the way you all put up with New Commandos and others who ask the same questions we've all heard thousands of times before...in some other communities, if a "noob" asks a question that has come up many times or is stickied above, they get flamed to no end, but here, you all take the time to help that player and welcome them into our Community...
I brag often in the Correspondent forum how funny it is for a Profession that relies so much on our FlameThrower, you'll find less flames in our Community then most other places...
And trust in this...It's been noticed...TH commented to me several times at the Summit regarding how great he thought the Commando community was doing and how well organized we are...And I've heard them from him and others several times since then...
I'd love to take all the credit, but I can't...When I first agreed to take the Correspondent Job I said that I wasn't going to do this alone...I would and could do this job if I had all of you backing me up...and you have all kept up your end of the deal...The way many of you feel about me is the way I feel about all of you...
