As an MDE I have been able to arrange my skill points so that I could aquire Novice Commando. I was thinking it may be worth it just for the huge firepower weapon Certs.

Would this be viable, or would just Novice not quite cut it?

Also, can you use corresponding weapons and attacks, ie: Launcher Pistol with pistolattackBody Shot 2?

Launcher pistol can use pistol specials. It is the only commando weapon that can use any skills outside of our profession. A novice commando can do pretty good damage. But at novice, your weapons are slow and very inaccurate.

Yeah, if you pick up a commando weapon, you'll have to dedicate yourself to it's entire branch if you hope to actually hit anything.
