Thread: Master Commando vs Jedi?

I have played as a Bounty Hunter since game launch. Saw it through all the way to master grinding out things the old way. Along come Jedi bounties and after many months they are finally fixed and working correctly with good payouts. Long story short, ranged just flat out gets owned going at it one on one against a jedi (unless he is a newb with no powers yet).


So, I do something I have never done before since launch ... I go melee. I grind out master fencer (just because I see too darn many TKM's). Finally I start enjoying sucess. I can win 8 out of 10 straight out one on one fights .. even with Knights. But it just dosn't feel right .. just dosn't feel like Star Wars. I hate fighting with a freaking "stick"!! This is Star Wars .. there is supposed to be s**t blowing up with lasers flying.


I want to go back to my ranged roots and have always had this thorn in my side to go Commando. From what I have read and heard Commando is supposed to stand the best chance as a ranged fighter against a jedi for one reason above all else ... grenades cannot be blocked. I must admit I have seen some stats for some protons and thermal dets that have made my jaw drop. I can't think of a better opening move on a jedi than sending in the level 35+ bomb droid followed by a couple thermals ... before he can even get a TEF on you.


Please let me know from your own experiences how grenades fair against jedi. Is a Bounty Hunter/Commando a good viable template .. or am I just dreaming. Thanks for your input.

In groups...grenades work until you get singled out and have almost NO HAM left...1v1 PvP..."fogedd abboudit!". But you are not dreaming...let's put it that way!

Grenades rock like braven said, If they fix grenade speed and accuracy issues in CU, It's over. Plus, If you do manage to hit a jedi, You can get an almost 1 hit kill. that's if you manage to hit him....

Also, if you somehow get very, very lucky, and hit with a Flamesingle2 on a Jedi, then they're in a world of hurt.


But don't expect this to happen on a regular bases. Our FT specials are slow and /saberblock from a Master Lightsaber is damn tough. But still, if you bypass his defenses, it'll hurt quite a bit.

there are 2 opinions one flame2 against a jedi, 1 is to have a very high (over 1.1k) damage lamethrower and pray for that 1 crucial hit, or get a very fast one, like a 2.9 speed and go for the surer thing. (you get more flame 2 in a shorter period of time, therefor a bigger chance of hitting him before he notices you and forceruns away) I wish i could give you a good answer, based on hundreds of trys, but i only have manged to hit a jedi once, that was with an aoe, i was targeting the cm next to him.

Thanks for the input. I am very shocked after reading some of the "Commando issues" Garvin has posted. So no matter how high you climb the grenade tree you will never throw a grenade faster than 9 seconds per throw !!! That is just freaking lame !!! This game has been live for over a year an no one has ever fixed that nonsense?? I mean how tough can that fix be?? Wow, I thought that bounty hunters had it tough with all the bugs and all ... but at least our specials work. I just find it so hard to believe that you guys have a whole "tree" dedicated to grenades at the cost of combat xp ... the longest xp to grind ... and it dosn't work?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Oh well , so much for the bounty hunter/grenade throwing Commando template. Thanks guys. I really feel for you guys now.

A problem with being commando against jedi though isas it saysin our top 5 issues, we have nomelee toughnessand you have to get within 18m to use our specials so 1 or 2 swings of a lightsaber while having a flamethrower equipped and you're toast.
