that honestly depends on your feelings on the matter
are you a true commando...
or would you rather have a profession that deals massive damage and win...

In honesty, if my in game friends could see the notion of "great" and "Lowy" placed in the same context, they'd probably do more damage to themselves laughing than my plasma flame thrower could ever do. Great, maybe not, but Master Commando I am.
Take heed in this much... we are broken, broken into worthlessness, yet I solo force sensitive MOBs and nightsisters using my commando weapons. I have hunted the mighty Katarn in the depths of the Shadowed Lands, and returned weary, and wounded, yet victorious, that beast's head now a decoration in my home far from Kashyyyk. Enemies of the Republic have died at the nozzle of my flame thrower, and fear my Rocket Launcher, not for it's massive damage, but for it's devestating knockdown effects, and pinpoint accuracy.
I don't want to paint it rosier than it is. Other professions have done the same things, and had an easier time of it, that I can promise. Let me suggest this, however: if it's fun. adn it's what you like doing, then yes, it's worth it. For what it's worth, all the imaginary loot in the world means nothing if you don't have fun with your profession in game. Now I ask- what could possibly be more fun than firing huge sheets of flame to set people on fire, 60m streams of acid, filling the air with electric charge and the smell of ozone, or flattening an entire field of enemies with the toss of an Imp Detontator? Did I mention setting people on fire
? We need fixes and we need 'em badly. We need a source of high output Kinetic damage for one. Mark my words, that is a HUGE issue. I'm sure we all remember how popular professions without stun were, right?
Bottom line is, not "how uber will I be?", because the answer to that is, who cares, if it isn't fun? Pick what you think looks fun. If you're asking if this is fun, then hell yes, it's fun.
In PvP we arent half bad, and are far more viable than we were pre-CU...but we don't live up to our role, none of the hvy damage dealers do right now...but we are comparable in most cases in PvP. Come PvE however...whole different story, as PvP is a far more level playing field than PvE, where role matters far more.

Ummm...okay....if you are referring to grenades then please realize that we tried to get grenades fixed pre-CU so that FS grinders could not exploit our beloved profession. And nowadays, I have no idea what you are talking about.....

Yes, do tell us all exactly what you're talking about because the rest of us have absolutley no idea what you mean.

Extreme? Are you serious? Sweet jumping jimminy. When I was a master Rifle/Commando, I made exp as quickly as I could ever have wanted to spamming strafe 2 at random mobs, pulling everything in sight, and occassionally selecting a new target while I was on the way to missions. I had the sad experience of talking with a guildmate that honestly felt that he literally could not grind FS without proton grenades. Don't blame the people that have stayed with a75% gimped combat profession because one skill line got blown completely out of proportion in the Force Sensitive forums. People should seriously just try playing the game and cash in their exp once in a while instead of grinding mindlessly on towards an even larger grind. Heaven forbid someone actually finds that they enjoy doing something other than trying to be the next Luke or Anakin. I'm pretty sure most commandos view the FS grinders as the "leeches", and would rather have had grenades that actually lived up to the concept of something that instills fear, rather than incitelaughter. As for the "still have" portion of that, I won't even get into that one, but it does show how closely you've been paying attention.
