Here's some numbers for you:

My HAR, sliced for damage, made bya reputed master wepsmith in Bria (VIGO):

600-1000 damage (usually just hitting 700 to 900 damage range), with horrible accuracy unless you spam AIM.

Acid Single 1: Hits for 2200 damage MAX (usually hits for 1800 only), no dot. Same cooldown downtime as a flamethrower.

Flamethrower (made by same wepsmith, also sliced for damage)

900-1600 damage (usually hitting for 1200-1400 damage), with decent accuracy at 64m, poor accuracy at 35m, and good accuracy below 20m.

Flame Single 1: Hits for 5500 damage max (usually hits for 4.5k damage). Fire dot. 9 to 15 sec cooldown.

The only saving grace the acid rifle has is the acid damage and the graphicless (well, it spits a small BB's you can hardly see) firing animation. However, if you face a 100% heat resistant mob and need to switch to acid damage ... you'd be dumb to use the HAR.. the acid damage pistol is a far better choice because it fires **edit** faster, and does more damage than the HAR will ever do in the same amount of time. PLus you can use pistol specials with it. Or use the COLD damage rifle.

If you in a group that gets pissed at you spamming the smoke and bangs, the HAR is the only way for you to get heavy weapons xp. But then again, it is still better to just not shoot the flamer and just fire the special (flamer special does not spam smoke or explosions) and get 4X the heavy wep xp you'd get with the HAR. With 1 shot.

'Foolish boy. Don't you know anything about Fantasia? It's the world of human fantasy. Every part, every creature of it, is a piece of the dreams and hopes of mankind. Therefor, it has no boundaries.'
'But why is Fantasia dying then?'
'Because people have begun to loose their hopes and forget their dreams. So the nothing grows stronger. It's the emptiness that's left. It's like a despair, destroying this world. And I have been trying to help it.'
'But why?'
'Because people who have no hopes are easy to control. And whoever has control has the power'

Has anybody used this attack?

Does itdo some sort of bleed/fire or poison on sombody ?,and if so what pool does the dot attack?

Is it short range like flame single, does it have a delay like flame single?

I've not used it but from what I've heard it doesn't do a DOT and has the same delay as flame single 1.

Not to be the rain on the parade but in my experience the Acid Rifle will only get you killed. At master commadno i I have tried using it to seperate myself from those with the flamethrowers, but I cannot force myself to use such a horriable weapon.

Compared to Flamesingle one it does the about the same damage with no DOT burn

In my experience it seems an eternity between Specials On the Acid rifle in general (thus only adding to my 15second timer of running around like a sissy)

Also I tend to miss more often with the Acid rifle in general (due to KNOWN bugs)

I would personally suggest not using the Acid Rifle unless forced to. I know it sucks to be just like every other commando out there and use a Flamethrower, but its the only working and reliable weapon we have... save the LP which is a joke if you ask me.

Some specifics:

Flamethrower 4.3 speed - flamesingle2 or flamecone2: delay between special and next action: 9 Seconds

HAR 5.2 speed - acidsingle2 or acidcone2: delay between special and next action: 20 seconds

These are exact times taken from the combat logs using ingame timestamps - no times are estimated.

Anyone seen any advantages with the Acid damage type? Since most mobs are supposedly vulnerable to it. I know there was a post at some point talking about how armor and AP makes it such that you take less damage from things you are vulnerable to. I've used the acid rifle successfully at longer ranges using normal shots simply because I don't want to lag everyone in the group. But I certainly haven't spent any skill points in it yet.
