Thread: Melee defense modified clothes?

Forgive my ignorance. I've been donating most of my money to fund my wife's character up until now. Recently, I've found that I've acquired a nice sum of money from doing missions. And I don't have anything to waste it on.

I'm a wookiee commando 3-4-4-2 and I just got CH novice to grant me a pet to tank for me.

My question is this. I've seen that skill mods have been added to clothing now and I assume they actually work. Do they work? If so, is there such thing as a melee defense mod for clothing? And if there is, would this help us reduce that awful melee multiplier we have to deal with? I'm thinking that skill mods in the limited stuff I can wear would be a great thing. Especially if they can help me when I'm up close and personal.

This would make me a very happy wookiee if it were true and provided some good results.

Thanks,

Before I start, I have no hard facts. But, skill mods have been fixed to be able to be applied to clothing and possibly armor. As far as negating the 2.5x modifier, I really doubt that unless you can find about +50 in melee defense tapes will it show any significant help. You probably need to check with a good crafter who knows the clothing trades to find out for sure.

Yes, you can get a Bio-Engineer to make you 'tissues' that can be placed into clothing during the crafting process. Most tailors will add it to a custom order for no extra charge. One of the stats they can improve is melee defense. A Master Tailor in my guild made me a bandolier with +3 melee defense, +10 Defense vs. Stun,in addition to 4 sockets. It all depends on what clothing you want modified. Some clothing does not have a slot for tissue during crafting. Good luck.

So BEs are the ones....what determines the effectiveness of the tissues? Why only +3 melee defense..why not +30? Why is it +10 defense vs Stun vs +10 vs everything? How do you know what clothing has sockets? This sounds like a potentially very important part of the game that I know nothing about (in addition to the rest of the game I know nothing about 8) )...please advise.

There is only 1 piece of clothing that a wookie can wear that takes the BE tissues. It is a sholder pad thingy.

Wookies got the shaft all around on cloths and armor.
