Hello,

We are conducting research to help focus our efforts on providing the most effective weapons at the right price for the Commando profession and others. We would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to comment on the following:

  • Which weapon (or weapons) are you most interested in purchasing?

  • What stats (damage, speed, HAM costs, etc) are you looking for? (unsliced)

  • How much would you expect to pay?

Your assistance will help weaponsmiths on all galaxies serve you better.

Thank you,

MrValentine

1. Flamethrowers, HPCs, and gernades.

2. Personally I look for 790-810 high dmg and 4.5 speed on my flamethrowers, Finding one 4.5 and lower is rare, and I would pay nicely for one that has a even lower speed. I don't really use the disposible weapons because of the extreame cost.

3. I pay 15k-20k for flamethrowers curretnly. To make the disposible weapons appealing their price would have to be around 3k credits per stack for the HPCs and maybe 6k for the rocket launcher. Even then that still hurts the pocket book. Maybe if the stacks had like 80-100 charges like they did at the end of beta, I would use them more.

I know the disposibles are hard to make, and I understand that, but their cost is prohibitive to using them currently.

Personally I buy Flamethrowers and Launcher Pistols.

For Flamethrowers I look for high damage in the 800's and minimium damage in the high 400's or low 500's. The speed has to be at or lower than 4, because I can buy Flamethrowers for 3k on the bazaar with what I have said so far. I will pay big for a faster Flamethrower, so will many others.

Launcher pistol just make really, really fast, and as high minimium damage as possible, and worry about max dmg last.

Also for both of these, the lower the HAM costs the better. Especially the pistol.

Personally, I buy Flamethrowers, Rocket Launchers, Proton Grenades, and HPBC's the most.

The stats I prefer vary for each weapon...

Flamethrower: Speed / Damage, doesn't matter. I keep one of each. Speed is much nicer for firing in normal mode, but I prefer damage when I use specials. I actually have macros set up to flip between flamers when I use a special / switch to normal mode. Damage is also definately a better route for PvP, it's more important to kill right **edit** now than it is to be able to fire 2 less damaging shots quickly.

Expendables: Damage, always. When I use an expendable I always want to get my money's worth, meaning do the most damage per shot that's physically possible. Firing 2 shots quickly just means I've sucked up more money in less time.

For a top-of-the-line unsliced expendable weapon, I usually look to pay a little under 750 per shot. Proton grenades, however, I rarely find for much under 1k per shot, and Rocket launchers are usually easily 1250 a shot, if not far more.

That said, I think250-350 a shot is more than fair on most expendables, with protons being more in the neighbothood of 400-450 per shot and rocket launchers running around 500-600 per shot.

Tip-of-the-line-Flamethrowers should run around 15k-20k, with Krayt ones being in the neighborhood of 40k (for one made with low-end Krayt) to 200k (for one with fully 102 Krayt). Those Krayt prices assume that YOU, the smith, bought the Krayt for the customer. If the customer brings in Krayt for you to use, you don't charge more than 5k extra (I understand you have to produce a special factory run of parts to incorporate it); charging full Krayt price when the customer brings the ingredients is just being an asshat

I personally only buy sliced weapons.

Not gonna buy a "half-finished" product. I want to know what I'm buying.

Jukken's mentality toward presliced weaponry is well-represented by the community and well-grounded. However, some of the richer players (or perhaps just the ones more cavalier about money) prefer to buy 2 or 3 of a weapon (unsliced) and take them all to a Master Smuggler. That way, when we get all our slices back we can pick and choose between precisely which one is the best (I've gotten in the habit of buying5 of every nonexpendable weapon I get and having them all sliced, which usually results in at LEAST one good +33% or better slice).

It's all a matter of preference.

I'd like to thank all of the commando who have responded so far. This information is quite helpful.

Jukken, I tend to agree with you. The way slicing works right now in the game, an unsliced weapon is basically unfinished as you say. Slicing was supposed to be a "risky", "illegal" activity, but in reality, there is no risk and it is "illegal" only in that it is referred to as such in the game docs. I think we're going to be seeing slicing services or sliced weapons being sold in most weapon shops become SOP soon unless that is changed.

Rocket launcher=1529 recs

HPBC=484recs

so at 6cpu, figuring in factory costs and power...

break even price for a RL is 9174, Hpbc is 2904

so, as a master weaponsmith... would you buy RLs for 13k, and Hpbcs for 7k??

but be warned they arent the best possible, i'm using bulk materials, to keep the costs low

i just want your opinions on good pricing, and if yoru willing to spend ALOT on high quality, or spend decent for decent quality?

What I would like is a nice, fastHeavy Acid Rifle. I actually use mine, especially since i just got flame 4. The acid damage is nice on all those heat resistant mobs. My current HAR is 5.4 speed and mid-700s damage. A HAR under 5 secs would be nice

When the last changed came out, I ended up finally buying 7 FTs at 20k each until I got one speed sliced. ( It was a 3.7 AS 400-800 something.)

Prior to the patch where HWs were pure junk, I paid 40k for one FT and fired it mabe 8 times. ( Material problems on the server/shortage.)

I pay around 10-15k for LPs. Same thing. I keep getting them sliced until I get a near ~2 AS speed slice.

I make my own grenades. Experementation is damage only since eff only changes it like 2 or 5 pts and Attack Speed was broken last I checked. Grenades cycle at 8 seconds no matter what. Last I checked.

I won't pay 30k for a RL, but I bought some good ones for 2 and 1k each on the bazaar. ( Someone must've changed prof or something.)

I see HPCs and LBCs on sale for 2-3k each on the bazaar for a good weapon.
