Thread: commando once again worthless in pvp, help us Master Synn
I understand that a lot of people PvP...but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE realize that the 2.5x is a FAR bigger problem in PvE. Hell, for all I care they could leave the penalty in for PvP (although a damage penalty for equipped weapon is stupid...should be an accuracy bonus or something for the attacker, but I digress)....I'll just stay covert and it won't affect me.
However, in order to enjoy much of the content of this game, you have to fight against the AI, ie. PvE. And that is where the commando is now crippled, and reduced to a glorified master marksman. No other upper-tier combat class is forced to rely on their pre-requisite skills to survive a trip across Corellia. We're certainly the only upper-tier combat class that runs screaming from a durni like a 0-0-0-0 Novice Entertainer. And that's just wrong.

I'm sure MasterSynn is doing everything he can. He's got my full support.
Unless he screws up. Then I'll lead the lynch mob. ![]()
hehe..Just kidding.
Keep up the good work Synn.
I agree dizzy knockdowns are a pain, especialy from those Bounty Hunters with Carbines... Ouch
At any rate, as a Pistoleer thinking about going commando I'd like to point out that our defensive mods don't help a whole lot (though I do dodge every now and then in PvE)
Really though I think every class has it's strength and weakness... One on One I don't know of a single person who can withstand a fight with a commando wielding a flamethrower. I know I feel pretty darn lucky if I survive a fight with a commando, even though I often wish I had died when the flame wounds finish eating up my health bar ![]()
Really though, you guys deal massive damage, but at a slow rate. I think this is good. You're great against big heavy targets and what you don't kill your DoT often does. And eaven if it doesn't, the health wounds are crippling. But against a bunch of little targets that swarm you, you're in trouble.
Maybe you guys can confirm something for me. Some say on the swordsmen forum that all a commando has to do is switch weapons and he instantly gets his defense back. I find on my second character that there is a delay after using flame1 of about 10 seconds before I can switch. Maybe I was on a laggy server but is this true? If not why dont you just fire switch and fire again?
Even though you have switched weapons after using the special it doesn't matter.
During the 8 to 15 seconds after special use we cannot do anything but run...
AND..
No matter what we are holding, the game view us as holding a flamethrower and gives us the beatdown from melee.
