hi guys, I'm looking at commando, i see alot of you are dropping this profession.

I am completely 0% pvp, i'm full pvp with ranger, i enjoy hunting animals, and harvest high priced hides/meat ect.

my question is this, are commandos good at PvE?

that is all i care about, it seems alot of you here are concerned with PvP, saying commandos are broken.

i am in NO way concerned about PvP

So are they good at PvE?

i love it for PvE. so yes it good

i have a lvl 16 pet. (i ch 0300) and i solo a lot.

BTW people, for the first time i found the HAR usefull - i killeda few grauls (dont remmebr what kind) with two - three acid II's each. with the flamer it takes forever. (very high heat resist)

I used to enjoy it when we were really good at pve, but we seem to have been on a decline with new mobs having high heat resists and rockets sucking even more now than they used to and the burn changes... While I dont think it is bad at pve now... there are definatly proffessions out there that are better....

Yeah, I used the HAR on some graul maulers the other night too. There aren't a lot of creatures like that out there though. Perhaps it could be renamed the graul gun?

Any halfway decent master commando will almost never die in PvE if buffed, unless fighting boss mob types. If you don't PvP at all and just want to hunt, commando is an awesome class. The reason I have kept commando so long, is that is has always been so easy to just run 9-13K missions, and flame everything. Takes 45 seconds to kill the stuff, and 5 minutes to store your bike, ride back and forth and chat with people on guild chat. On a good day you can make 100K an hour easy in creds, and like 2000 FPs in an hours if you haul.

If your looking for a great PVE class, u should pick up Swordsman. And yes I was a Master Commando before the nerfs and I am a Master Swords now. I kill stuff alot faster as a Swordsman than I ever did as a Commando. Plus on the good side the only peeps that can beat you in pvp are Rifleman and Fencer, this is just in case you want to try your skills out after getting bored of harvesting.

Depends on what you hunt...

Right now we have blast, heat, and acid. Unfortunately just about every high level MOB is pretty strong against these.

I do a lot of PvE, though, and find commando a good choice as long as I have a pet with me. Without a pet, I don't think it would be quite as good, since I seem to miss more while being hit, dunno.

Rifleman is very good for soloing stuff, also necessary to have a pet. Personally I'm pretty impressed with this profession, but good luck having enough points to cover everything fully.

thanks for the answers guys. I appreciate the replies. Seems i have made the right choice here going Commando for PvE.

As far as swordsman goes, i was pikeman before i dropped it, it was fun but i just do not like Melee as much (I do take into consideration the class being fun as well as effective).

I was a novice commando a month after release, and we all know how that was, nothing worked. at all. Couldnt get heavy weapons exp and stuff like that, so you couldnt advance. I dropped it pretty quick and never looked back.

But now I'm picking it up again, I've PvPed a total of about 3 times it seems. So it's not that important to me.

I want a great balance of a class that is fun to play and one that is good at PvE, i like taking out rebel npcs and harvesting high quality resources.

Unfortunately i will have to drop ranger and my tracking line, so my harvesting will not be as good. But this is what i enjoy the most.

So, thanks for the replies, it seems i am making the right decision for me.

Here the low down - Anything a master commando can do well,a master rifleman can do it better, faster, and stronger - need I say more?
