Thread: As Well As Broken, I Wonder What This Class Was Supposed To Be Anyway
Forgive me for being obtuse, but I haven't a clue what the heck this class is supposed to be, anyway. Began to think about it as I watched the class languish without apparent direction. Note, this post is NOT about the problems with the existing skills -- there are enought of those already.![]()
I would love to hear from anyone at SOEhow they envision the class fitting in the scheme. My vision of Commando (which quite frankly is bolstered by the skill trees needed to get to Novice) was a special operative type, like a Navy Seal, Green Beret, etc. Heavy weapons seemed to fit some of that model, so I went with the concept.
It is ironic and perhaps sad that you develop all these terrific skills as a Master Mark and an Unarmed Combatant just to qualify for the class, and most of them DO NOTappear to carry over to Commando. There are no unarmed attacks. As far as I know, Acid Rifle is not a rifle skill. FLamethrower and Rocket Launcher don't fit either. About the only one that really carries over is Launcher Pistol, which you can use standard pistol moves for I guess (but why bother, there's a whole special class devoted to those).
But consider this. Teras Kasi BUILDS on Unarmed. Carbineer, Rifleman, Pistoleer BUILD on Master Mark. Bounty Hunter is admittedly a special class, but they use variants from the Pistol and Carbine classes for 2 of their 4 trees.
Just WHATis a Commando in the game? Seems almost like an afterthought and is being treated that way in my most humble opinion. (Heck, it even had crafting for a while) It is as if the Devs had a bunchof weapons left over that didn't anywhere else and said, welllet's just create a new class for'em.
Who built the skill trees? What was their vision?
What IS the vision?
Why am I wasting time posting this?

You are 100% right.. I am in the US Army,I am a heavy weapons and Demo expert... but this is a joke... 0 range for an any weapon that is heavy is almost asking yourself to die!

Agian very true... we get new ablities with 2 new guns... which we can not even use them (the special moves) till we get at least one box in the tree. Not to say that these are nto ment to be primay weapons... So how the hell do we get exp? The Launcher pistol is what they say... it ahve no heavy weapon moves... adn is far worse a weapon than anything in par with it!
Please help your fellow Commando’s and rally together to help us get fixed.... Only with your support can we be a value on the Field of Battle!
Here is the definition of Commando: a specially trained military unit used for surprise, and destructive raids (taken from random house college dictionary)
Big thanks to Garibaldi_di_Alia for compiling these issues. Here are the designers’ responses to the top 5 issues (option 6th is the Correspondent’s pet issue). We have 32 professions to get through so we apologize for the brevity of the answers.
(btw Garibaldi quite 3 days before he the Dev wrote this, and he wrote it yesterday)
1) Weapon Certifications – Heavy Acid Rifle and Beam Rifle say you are not qualified to use the weapon when you should be.
This should be fixed. This has not been confirmed my any commando yet! But if it has I will edit this
2) Heavy Weapon Stats – The stats for the heavy weapons is hampering the profession, with 0 ideal range, severely unbalanced range mods, and apparent lack of accuracy in these weapons.
These are meant to be extreme close range weapons.
0 range for a Rocket Launcher, Heavy anything ... is meant for long range use unless it is meant to be a suicide mission... Really, who are they trying to fool?
3) Special Move Recovery – Special attacks take too long to recover from. In some cases 12 – 15 seconds.
These special moves are not designed to be primary default moves. They are meant to add to your default attack. Not a default fine, But I can not attack until it is refreshed! Hello Play the game and then tell me what is suppose to do and not suppose to do! At this delay, it had better do 1000's of damage, which it only does 350 is top posted on the boards... Bodyshot, actionshot, mindshot and many others do more and have a fraction of the refresh rate!
4) Resources for Weapon Crafting – The resources for the commando weapons are too rare. It’s too difficult to obtain these weapons because no one can make them.
The weapons are designed to use rare resources. These are extremely powerful weapons. The Launcher should be easier with upcoming changes. The launcher still can not be made. and same with a couple other ones. The launcher btw is a 5-10 shot throw away item. and the resources are beyond rare! Funny the damage on them and the crappie and the special moves that we have are only for 2 of the weapon that we can use. Good luck being able to afford or get exp with in a group or solo,
5) Craft able Components – The grenade components are in the wrong skill line, and they lack experimentation bonuses.
Commandos were never meant to be able to craft in the final product. We’ve moved grenades into the Weapon smith line now.Funny we seems to still be able to make the explosive additives to add to the them!
6) Flamethrower VS Pistol – Grenades and the Launcher Pistol are more effective than the Flamethrower. And the Launcher Pistol gives Pistol experience rather than Commando experience.
This will be fixed very soon.
The launcher Now give HW exp... But uses pistol special moves... so if we are to be good with it we need to be a Pistol user also?
Here is quote from one of them... Why would some one say this... a Flame thrower burns at 2000 degrees
quote:Tell that to the people of WW2!
fire doesn’t hurt much, I know from experience when my cousin burnt me with a candle
