Thread: Launcher pistol, flame thrower... Are they worth it?

I'm still pretty new to the game. Just got novice commando yesterday. I bought a flame thrower and a launcher pistol. With the flame thrower I miss more than half the time and with the launcher I don't do any more damage than I do with my DX2! And at more HAM cost?
Will someone please explain this to me. I'm sure I'm missing something. I know accuracy and damage will get better with XP but it would with pistols or rifles as well. Why not go with pistols or rifles and save some skill points? WHat is it that's so great about launcher pistols and flame throwers?

I have an alternate character that is master commando and working towards master TKA and I know how you feel. At the begining the flamer can be really frustrating. However, as you move up the skill tree it improves greatly. The speed and accuracy get much better, and some of the specials are really nice. With flame single 2, i have gotten shots that do over 11k damage on things with little or no fire resist. Not to mention that it sets the target on fire doing an additional damage over time. Now I don't do much PvP so i don't know how it stacks up in that area, butfor PvE Ihave really enjoyed commado. As for the launcher pistol, i don't really use it much. The only real benefit that i have found for it is that it gives you another damage type to use (blast). I hope this helps.

Like Gorkin said the flame thrower can be very frustrating at lower skill levels but it is one of the best PvE weapons in the game. Try using your /aim command before using /flamesingle1 and that will help that attack hit much more often also try kneeling when using it because Commando weapons get more accuarcy bonus when you kneel.

Best thing to do is use a launcher pistol and use ur marksman or pistoleer if ya are one. With the launcher pistol ya can use pistol skills but get heavy weapon skills. Do that till ya get flame 3 skill box, then use your flamethrower.
