Thread: Proposal: From Heavy Weapon Specialist to Combat Specialist
Ok, last CU make Commando seem like someone walked over their profession with a chainsaw.
Now, I always hated Weapon Certifications. People should be able to choose for themselves what weapon they use, even use weapons you arent skilled with. However, Commando needs a fix.
Personally, when I hear the word "Commando", it should be THE tough guy. I dont associate "Commando" with the guy who use the Rocket Launcher, I associate "Commando" with the guy that kills a Bolma with a steel knife just to prove himself.
My suggestion is: Make Commando the Combat Specialist. The general combat profession that boost any other profession (the other profession is seen as the Commando's "Speciality").
This means:
* Somewhat higher skillpoint requirement, like part of Scout
* Keep their Heavy Weapon bonuses
* Give them a definite boost in both General Ranged and Melee Accuracy/Speed
* Certify them to all kinds of armor
* Give them natural Damage Reduction, that might be somewhat limited with armor
* Give them damage bonuses to whatever weapon they use, especially weaker weapons
* Give them wider area of effect bonuses for area weapons
* Give them bonuses for working in group (Like a weaker form of Squad Leader)
* Give them mean generic strong specials
- Armor Break that works on range
- Power Attack
- Melee Area Knockdown
- A way to make sure that the opponents Melee attack end up on the attacker
- All Recoveries
