Thread: Is Master Commando Worth it?
Ok started my 3rdchar a week ago and hes going commando havent been grinding on him much hes boring hehe. I just got him to FlameThrower4 and Tactics 2. What i want to know is Master commando even worth it? first of all your FlameThrower MAxes at Flame 4 Minus the Flame Cone 2. The Acid rifle is a joke its slow and weaker then the flamethrower i dont care about more things being more vulnerable to acid
. The rocket Launcher eh its cool but for limited shots and how much Wep smiths have to charge for them they arent worth it. Also the Beam cannon is kinda lame but they do look very nice
As for Grenades Bleh seems to slow your char down a lot just to throw one. So im thinking now that i got Flame 4 i may go Master Creature Handler what do you guys think? send in the tanks then run up Flame Single 2 over and over while pets tank could be some serious dmg hehe.
Up to you. I chose to master the profession as soon as I read about it before starting the game. Sounds like being a CH too would be a good combination.
Granted the HAR doesn't really seem worth it right now (at least to me), but hopefully they will fix that at some point. As for the HW, yes they are expensive, but after the changes to AT's take effect and vehicles become more prominent in the game, along with installations, those will be the weapons which will be the most effective at taking them out.
If you are more focused on soloing ability, theMaster CH and the Commando skills you have thought about seem to fit that style more in my opinion. Just have to ask yourself what exactly you are shooting for in regards to your character and your abilities.
To me, CH/Commando isn't a logical combination now that weapons have been fixed. Considering how much damage we do, and the range we do it at, a tank is certainly not useful. As of now the best thing would be to pick up some pistoleer skills to do better with the launcher pistol. IMHO, commando is best as a stand alone combat profession, like BH. You've spent lots of skillpoints to become this powerful and there is honestly no need for more power. You could probably take up some good medic or crafting skills instead.
That's wierd because I love using my pets. I have a grand wrix that I mainly use as a tank and he keeps ago (most of the time) just fine. I send him in, wait about 5-10 second, then use either flame single 1 or flame cone 1 (if he's tanking 2 mobs), then I can stand there and blast away as I please. On the rare occasion he loses agro, I try supression fire with my launcher.
Now, you and I may be soloing different kinds of things here. I've used my pets for soloing war grondas and turtles (among the highest missions you can get on corelia and rori)and he'll tank 2 at a time, and also things on endor (or was it yavin).
Commando is indeed a very powerful proffession. It has lots of potential for both tactics, soloing, and grouping. Myself I got Master Commando/Firstaid3/Diagnostics2/exploration4/hunting3/survival4. In other words I'm pure commando with light support skills. With a suit of composite and spices and food I can be very destructive
My friend is going for the commando/ch cause he likes to solo, I like to group. But I can still tank the damage if I have to ![]()
Its purely based on what you want to do.
Sty, Mwargasm.... you guys don't hunt much on Endor or Dathomir, do you? Or if you do, how do you manage to kill ewoks/maurauders/nightsisters/rancors without a pet?
At this point in the game's development, without a good pet it's exceedingly difficult to solo on any advanced world. With a good pet, it's not hard. If all you do is group, CH isa waste of time for a commando. If you don't group much, CH is a neccessity unless you plan to stay on the five beginner worlds.
To the original poster, currently there's little point to becoming a master commando. Flame Cone II is nice, but not nearly worth the additional skill points. Right now the only compelling reason to become a master commando is so that small-minded people on this board don't attempt to belittle you by calling you a dabbler.
