He didn't say it but I read one his posts from yesterday that we may get some KD resist as part of our revamp...but this is how rumors start. lol. I really don't know but I hope so.

Edit: Umm, he didn't say we would get it but it sounded like it in this thread:

Without letting anything slip (since I'm not allowed)...our weakness to KD will be dealt with in the Revamp...it won't be as big of a deal and how we deal with being KD'd will have more of a strategic role...After seeing the Revamp docs, I'mcomfortable in saying that KD will not be as big an issue to us as it currently is...It will still be very useful by those who can cause a KD, but they will have to be more strategic about it instead of just spamming it at us....

There will be ways to improve your accuracy with the FT...but that may come at the cost of other skills/abilities elsewhere...that's why I say that Template building is going to get very strategic with the Revamp...

It's almost like asking "Which would you prefer, to shoot slow, but hit more often OR shoot fast, but hit less often? Would you rather have more speed or more accuracy...or maybe even a balance of both?" those might be the type of questions you'll have to decide on...

It's a combo of both...the KD knocks us down, but it's the Dizzy that keeps us down...that's one of the reasons I've pushed, in the past, for Commandos getting Def Vs. KD and Def. Vs. Dizzy...

There are interesting changes coming that effect all "status" effects...

The bit in red makes me think back to a thread I saw on one of the boards a while back. The person posting was basically saying how there is no uniqueness to any characters (everyone wears composite for example) but was compounded by, for example, a master commando is a master commando is a master commando, in that every commando at master level had exactly the same set of skills and abilities.

The thread in question pre-dated any talk of a combat revamp, and after thinking to myself that the guy was right, wondered how the game might be altered to address this. The asnwer I came up with was this :

How about, on achieving a new box within any of our trees, rather than getting a fixed bonus (such as +25 flamer speed on the fourth box of the 3rd line as an example) we instead get points to spend in our profession. That point could then be used to buy a +5 speed bonus with a certain weapon, or an accuracy bonus. Taking the idea further you could use the points system to purchase special moves, or additional weapon certifications.

The end array of results could be mind boggling, you could have a commando who chose to specialise in the flamethrower only, with as many special moves as possible available to the weapon, but he could have chosen speed over accuracy, meaning he'd fire at godlike speeds but may not be terribly accurate (the flipside of course is if he comes across something with high heat resists - he's screwed)

Or he could have dabbled some of his points into the HAR (don't laugh) as a backup weapon; the trade off here being he's no longer as accurate with his flamethrower.

I always thought that kind of scenario would be much cooler than the current way of thinking which is "oh, he's a commando, he's only good with a flamethrower" and would definately add a greater degree of uncertainty and stratergy to PvP as you now no longer automatically know what you opponent is capable of based solely on his profession.

Now to get back to the point - if the things Garvin is hinting at here are even remotely like that, I personally think it's gonna add one very cool twist to PvP at the very least, and add a whole new level of planning and stratergy to any PvP encounter
