Thread: Ditch the HAR, we need a bows and arrows

No seriously, after my fun in the GCW event we had lastnight, I had to go and watch some movies with explosions in them.
I think since everyone knows the HAR sucks, it needs to be replaced with a bow. The bow itself won't be consumable, but the arrows will be. The bow will determine the overall amount of armor penetration (I'll explain this later) and the arrows will determine the type of damage. The arrows should be explosive ala the movies. Now have a huge damage potential, but more of a bigger AOE. The initial target of the arrow will suffer the most damage because of the AP.
I think the bow should (or maybe the arrows) havea good AP because after reading through some stuff on the origins of the longbow I found that early longbowman were good enough at their craft that they could penetrate even the heaviest of armor of the time.
I KNOW that's not composite armore, cheap iron and steel cuirasses can't compare with composite, but then again those bows were made with that eras technology, now look at SWG technology and tell me it couldn't be done.
You can't argue realism in any way, shape, or form on this because with any sense of reality, there wouldn't be any melee professions. I'd just pop a fencer in the ass and move on if the game was in any way realistic.
Go and look at any Stallone or braunshweiger war movie, and they always use a bow at some point to blow something up.
I think it would add soemthing different to the class without being overpowering.
Big blast radius, lower damage.
Different arrow with different effects
Something other than the HAR LoL

i still say a liquid nitrogen freeze gun..... like in preadtor 2 like comon as far as i know only rifleman do cold damage with there sg82's .. we want freeze guns!

I'd say bows and arrows should be given to rangers myself, for hunting. An arrow would do less damage to the animal's hide and all than a blaster would do, making for a better harvest.
For us, we need a chain-fed minigun.

to be brutally honest... i think the bow and arrow plan sux. well, maybe for rangers, with a bonus against animals and a bonus to harvesting. but for commandos? really? Now the minigun on the other hand...

Change the name from bows and arrows to "Varible ammunition heavy weapon" and I think you will be on the right track.

Rambo, Commando, Punisher, pretty much every one man army type of movie ever has had the hero blowing up stuff with a bow.
Although I do like the idea of a cryogun like in the second Predator movie.
Fire and Ice, don't figure there's much that resists both.
